So my hubby made the deposit for my daughter’s college online. Thought he did the financial aid reply as well but didn’t. I found the form that was to be mailed by May 1st. Have an email to financial aid at the college. Anyone else do something this dumb and what was the end result???
I hope that my daughter wasn’t supposed to actually mail something to her school, I believe everything was done online through her student portal. She accepted her financial aid and scholarships with a click of a button. Hopefully you will still be okay!
They can catch you off guard! Son committed to a college on August 26th and a few days later I pull out the financials again and was startled that they were to be in by May 1st (mail only, not online.) The deadline was nowhere on the “new student” website or on the checklist of when things are due… just buried in the text of the original financial aid list. Ours was postmarked before the 1st and doesn’t seem to be an issue but I feel for you. It was just happenstance that I looked in time.
If they over-extended and are actively looking to rescind financial aid it might be an issue but I suspect you are just fine. You contacted them and certainly won’t be the only family caught off guard. Hope you get a positive response!
Thank you for your responses. I contacted financial aid and everything is all set. It did say that by making the deposit by the due date that it secures the financial aid. I was able to email the completed aid form to them and I will mail the original. @3js3ks you may want to double check with your daughter to make sure she secured any financial aid when she made the deposit.
@adoptdontshop I am pretty sure she accepted the aid (loans) online because the recent statement that showed up in her portal shows our projected bill is minus her scholarships and the federal loan.
