I was curious about what needs to be done on my end if anything when a college on my list of colleges for transfer changes the EFC? I do not plan on attending the school that changed it. I do however have other schools on my list that I want to go to but they have the higher EFC. I made a mistake on my FAFSA application and put 1 student in college instead of 2. The school I don’t want to attend caught the mistake and corrected it. Do I need to resend a new FAFSA to the schools I want to go to? Or does it send automatically? Should I inform all the schools on my list of the correction? TIA
You should inform all of the new schools you are considering. Most likely they will already see it, but you want to be upfront with them so they will be sure to have the correct information, There is an automatic process where once one school makes a correction/change, any other school will be able to see it, but this also depends on whether or not the new school’s process involves going out to look for new information. So letting them know there is new, corrected information out there may be helpful, and at worst case, it won’t hurt to have them double check.
It should not require a new FAFSA filing, but each school may have its own process for verification of information
