This is specifically directed toward W/M Admissions, but anyone with advice would be very helpful.

I am an out of state student, and William and Mary is my dream school. If I am accepted, it would definitely be my top choice. However, there is absolutely no way I could afford to attend W/M if accepted. From my research, I've pretty much determined that, because I am an out of state applicant to a state school, I would receive little financial aid. How is the financial aid at W/M? Am I on track with my thinking, or will W/M be able to offer me an aid package that would make attending financially feasible?

Thank you!

HutMaster, we cannot tell you whether the financial aid package you would receive would make attending W&M financially feasible without knowing your individual financial circumstances.

What we can tell you is that we generally meet 80% of an out-of-state student’s demonstrated need (demonstrated need is total cost of attendance minus your family’s estimated family contribution which is determined by the FAFSA). We unfortunately cannot meet the full need of an out-of-state student’s need because many of our grant monies are state-supported grants and must therefore go to in-state students. Packages can be a combo of loans, grants and work study depending on your individual need. You can of course bring any outside scholarships with you to W&M.

Generally, financial aid awards become available about a week after you receive your admission decision.

Hope this helps
