Would anyone like to comment how William and Mary is with their financial aid for both instate and out of state students?

I didn't have any problems getting all my need met. However, W&M was much heavier on loans than UVA.

77% of out of state need was meet. First with Stafford loan, then work study, then grant.

Do you know what the average grant amount is for out of state or just in general?

We received no work study - just Stafford loan and Grants - (OOS)
All of "need" was met.

W&M is not as generous as most other colleges when it comes to meeting need. Even if all need is met, you might find the financial aid office greatly prefers loans to grants, especially for middle income students. On the flipside, W&M is public, and costs for out of state are still $12,000-$15,000 lower than many top private colleges right off the bat.
