Financial Aid

Hey all. I completed my financial aid application on 3/30. Does anyone know when I should hear or how long it typically takes? I know there are people who have heard already and their app was complete way bak when, but we had to receive certain tax forms to corroborate the dramatic change in finances from 2010 to 2011.

Bumpbumpbump!

Are you an entering freshman or a returning student?
Doesn’t UMich request entering freshmen to apply for FinAid in Feb?
What is your EFC?

If you are a returning student, you’re golden, but you won’t likely get the fin aid package until May/June. If you are an entering freshman, I’m not sure how fast they’ll be able to get it turned around. Obviously, they try to do freshmen first…but they also have an earlier deadline I thought (I could be wrong.)

Entering Freshman! My CSS, FAFSA, and non custodial profile were submitted in January, but they asked for my moms 2011 tax returns because my parents split up in 2010 so the tax returns were very different and they wanted the proof. According to wolverine access, my returns were processed on 3/30/12. I’m not sure what my EFC is because I have heard different things from the schools I applied to.

Okay, you’ll be fine. Give them a a bit of time, normally 3-4 weeks, but they will likely try to do it faster so that you know before the May 1 reply date.

Maybe send them an email in another week to politely check on status.
Best wishes.

Thanks so much!
