Financial Aid

Could someone tell me more about how much financial aid one gets at Syracuse? I heard they decrease the amount each year, is this true (do they decrease in increments of $5K, $10K?)
Is ED binding if you don’t get enough financial aid?

Thank you!

Very expensive school, apply for scholarships also because financial aid will not cover every single penny.

even if they don’t affirmatively cut your aid, which they will do, they will not increase it to cover price increases. an older cousin had a decent package when she started, her last year was short by $12k extra because of inflation. the school enthusiastically referred her to lenders that would cover the diff…

I’m a freshman at Syracuse and the college covered my entire financial need (for the first year at least). But yes, ED id completely binding if you don’t get enough financial aid. That’s why I would warn against applying early because ED applicants typically get almost no financial aid.

@cassiek21 I read on the website that if an ED acceptant cannot agree with the financial aid package they receive, they can back out of their contract

@OldParchment @cassiek21 What @loveyounot is saying is correct. While early decision is binding, if you apply for financial aid are not offered an award that makes attendance possible you may decline the offer of admission and be released from the ED commitment.

@SyracuseRand I dont think I get any financial aid because my family’s income is above what should be made in a household of 4. However, if I really do need the financial assistance, would they give me a package if I asked? (Not quite sure about the financial aid process and whatnot)

@SyracuseRand Thank you! Also, do you know the week specifically when Syracuse responds with ED decisions? Thank you!

Syracuse alumni here,
I am 40K in debt thanks to Cuse.
I think my finaid was pretty regular every year BUT every single freaking year, the tuition, meal plans, and room/board increased…

The past 4 years were amazing but I think I could have def. found a cheaper school that’s as good or even better. But if you do decide to attend Cuse, you’ll LOVE it!!!
