will my fin aid package be good with turning in everything so late and my mom making under 40,000 and me being a urm everything will be complete tomorrow

also when should i get my package

accepted freshman have priority in terms of financial aid…current students at cornell dont get their stuff until the summer (and in some cases fall semester)

so yes…send all your stuff (including the verification worksheet) and you should get a response in less than a month

thanks dude you have helped quite a bit man

HA HA ok so I got my Financial Aid Package today…I’ so happy
I just have to contribute $1800 in work study and my summer $2320…
I think that’s awesome…
But just a quick question…
has anyone had a really good package and then the next year they have to pay a lot lot more?? I mean since freshmen are a priority or something?
lol…
But I lOvE CorneLL!!!

I don’t want to sound intrusive, but I was wondering if people who post their financial aid pacakages - could you also include the rough assets and income of your families to assuage the worries for some of us who haven’t received them yet? :)

THANKS

I made a thread on this but only one person answered so I’m trying here now…

Hi, a friend of mine got accepted to Cornell, and although her FAFSA report says her EFC is $14000, her CSS-PROFILE suggests a parent contribution of $6000 and a student contribution of $2000 (even though she has never worked and has like $50 in her account). Cornell’s FA is amazing ($40000 in grants), as some of you know, but how much will the FAFSA report affect the aid given. Also, Cornell used the 2007 tax returns instead of the 2008 one and has asked her to send the 2008 tax returns. The increase in income from 2007 to 2008 is about $15000. How much will this affect the final financial aid report?

Thanks to all who reply

My parents make less than 60K and assets less than a 100k
student contribution mandatory…
idk about the work study but its not much…lol

I just found out that Cornell raised my EFC by $7k more than it was on FAFSA… and it’s not like I have any home equity or anything; in fact my family just bought a house and we are currently struggling just to pay the bills… sigh.

^And I don’t know how to answer your question, sorry, musicispassion.

for those who fall under the “no-loans” category…you can turn your summer contribution (if you didnt work…or didnt meet it fully) and your work study into a loans component…

so dont feel you MUST work the first semester…

What’s the expected fin aid for international students with combined annual family income less than 20-25K?

assuming you aren’t from Canada or Mexico, $0

Unless you are one of the few international students who Cornell wants badly enough to give aid to.

Considering gary is from India, there just might be funds available:

[Cornell Chronicle: Tata trust gives $50 million to Cornell]($50 million endowment from Tata trust bolsters Cornell ties to India, and to eminent alumnus | Cornell Chronicle)

cornell expected us to pay 40k out of our pocket because we have aan income of 150 and a house worth 370, but they didn’t know our home equity is already maxed out and in texas you can only get one. will they give me more aid if i appeal this fact? in additoin, my sister joined a private secondary school, so that also increased our financial burden. Will these two facts create an effective appeal?

anaya, did you get any grant aid? or was the rest of the COA all on loans?

woo! just got my fin aid and i am so thankful. everything is payed for, my parents contribution is 0 and mine is the basic 2300. i have 1800 in work study. this makes me erally want to accept their admission offer but i want to wait until DHW to make sure its the place for me, over my state school (whose only appeal is that its close to my 5 siblings and nieces/nephews. which is actually a huge appeal). but im so excited!!!

please visit your state school after having attended DHW…will give you ideas as to what to compare and what questions to ask at the state school…

cornell wants you to attend (since you were invited to DHW) but i can understand the sacrifice made by leaving a big family at home :<

thats actually a good idea, as i somehow went all this time never having visited it!

Thanks Cayuga! That is GREAT news!
Really gives me a boost for Cornell in case I get in.
Though- The Tata scholarships will be increased to the optimal number over three or four years. During that period, Cornell will launch an extensive outreach campaign in India to build awareness of the scholarships.

And I’ll be applying for class of '14
Really admire the TATA’s. And this year has been amazing. First they give the world its first super-efficient $2000 car and they’re topping it off with promoting Indian scholars in the US Cheers!

my grant aid was a total of 8,400. then there was 1700 Cornell university loan, and 1800 federal workstudy.
