Still “processing” for me!

I would kill to get anywhere near the amounts some of you have. According to my FAFSA, my EFC is very high, but in reality, my family doesn’t pay for much of anything, and this last semester, nothing at all. I will probably end up living off loan money for the first year at UNC if I get in.

Shameeee.
83% for OOS is amazing. Good job, eei_leen.

Even $9K feels like so much to me, maybe because I only spent $5K attending UNCC this year.

Good luck to the rest of you!

Just got my financial aid report. I got no financial aid. Just a small unsubsidized loan. I found this to be a little crazy since I am OOS and $35,000 a year is a lot. Oh well.

xMastemah- I’m in the same situation. My sister has very, very expensive medical bills that eat up a ton of our income. My parents aren’t giving a dime for my college education. I’m very lucky that my grandparents made some smart investments and are willing to foot the bill, but still. Our EFC is a hair above the COA, but I’m hoping with an appeal (because of the medical bills) I can get maybe a tiny break for my grandparents. Anyway, our EFC should plummet next year, so maybe it’s not too bad to wait it out.

My EFC would have been $0 this year (My mother only filed $17,000 gross adjusted income with 2 kids) but we didn’t figure that out until late March. I’ll still get some Federal Aid, but none from UNC until next year.

Oh well.

Are these online reports or by mail?

Is anyone else getting “inquiry Access Denied” under Aid Year Description, and not be able to click the 2011 link? It used to work for me, but the past few days I can’t even see the need summary calculation.

Still nothing. This is getting ridiculous.

Are we all still waiting? I am…

me too…

None for me. This is totally ridiculous.

Yeah I am getting my mom to call tomorrow b/c they arent listening to me. I need to make a decision on schools. And UNC is quickly losing the race when it used to be a dream school.

Could’ve sworn it said “Mid-April” was the date for FA results to come in.

FA results have always come out in mid April in the past. We’re not quite there yet…close, but it’s still not the 15th yet. They could also be experiencing internal delays due to the computer problems that impacted admissions decisions…no insight here btw, just a guess…or they may actually be on schedule to release things the 15th or 16th.

Incidentally many schools (not sure about UNC) release FA decisions late on Fridays to create a little buffer time and to prevent an avalanche of calls with questions and complaints the day they are released.

Aah, I got an e-mail today (I e-mailed them twice within the past 2 weeks). All I got was “will receive a notification by April. Check your e-mail if you’ve created an ONYEN, or the mail if you haven’t”.

So… yeah, I’m hoping it’s this friday. Pleaseee let it be friday.

Just so everyone knows. my friend contacted the office and they told him that they will have all final awards released and decided by APRIL 21st. -no joke

I’m sorry, but it’s a tad ridiculous. I fell in love with the school this past Friday, I went to explore carolina, but I really realllly wanna hear from financial aid now. I’m out of state, so it’s pretty important as well. Also, I have to make a decision by May 1st, that leaves us like 9 days from FA notification to decide. I can’t deal with this, how am I ever going to make a decision?!

My daughter is in the same boat still: applied EA, OOS; her decision is affected by her fiinancial aid award, and she had to attend Explore Carolina without having any idea whether UNC is truly an option for her. It’s especially disappointing because I remember reading originally that financial aid awards would probably be posted within a few days after the RD notifications went up, which was around March 20. We expected to know UNC’s before other schools, but as it’s turning out, we got award notifications for every other school by last Tuesday, the 6th.

My guidance counselor showed me a letter he received from UNC today, and it looks like the reason why they’re so delayed is because they’re implementing a new system. I don’t really know what the system is but that may be why it’s taking them so long to get back to people when other schools have already done so (someone prove me wrong if it was this delayed in past years, too). Just throwing that bit of info out there.

Okay, but they’ve had MONTHS to figure out the new system. I’m sick of it being used as the catch-all excuse for UNC.

That’s the computer issues I brought up as a possibility/hinted at…sorry that it turned out that I was correct in my guess because it REALLY has not been like this in the past. Implementing organizational change is always painful…I see it every day…my wife has been leading/coordinating the design and implementation of a new software platform for their very large, publicly traded company for the last four plus years …it is and has been very painful.
