Financial Aid

You should call the financial aid office at the university…I am pretty sure they will help you out.

I received 12,000 in grants, 3,000 in work study, and 1,000 in loans (for a year). That is for living in-state, with parents.

I was thinking about staying in a dorm. That will increase my cost of attendance, so do you guys know how will it affect my financial aid? (I’m thinking they will give me more in loans, and not grants?)

Also, if I receive any scholarships, how will that reduce my aid?

I don’t know if that’s the case with UW, but I talked to the Financial Aid people at WSU and they said that all other scholarships received after the financial aid offer has been put together gets taken out of the least desirable part of the offer, so probably from loans.

My aid still hasn’t been posted. Anyone else in my boat?

I’m in the same boat as you…gmedlo. Still haven’t received my aid either T_T

With housing deadlines looming…I bit the bullet and called the OSFA and they told me I should get my award by the end of the week sigh. Hope you get yours soon too.

Attention, please!!

Anyway, I made a mistake on my FAFSA by choosing “work study or loans” instead of “work study only.” I went back and fixed it-even though UW offered me my financial award last week (all loans). Is it possible for UW to review my FAFSA again, revise the award, and offer me another award?

@pumpkins: Absolutely no clue^^

I would call the OSFA and ask them. You’ll probably be on hold forever…I waited for 14 minutes…yep I kept track lol…but at least you’ll have your answer. I was terrified that I would meet up with some beastly lady that would yell at me for calling after they emailed me saying “don’t call…check myUW”…but the lady I talked to was totally nice.

Sorry I’m not more help :3

same as ayeyaya and gmedlo. still waiting

■■■. I just accepted my 16000 something loan…

I sent them an email, they replied that not all financial aid statuses are updated at the same time, then coincidently my status was updated 18 minutes later. If you haven’t tried yet, send an email or call them.

My award ended up covering everything but housing w/ grants, leaving me with the 2000 EFC and 7000 in loans. However, my brother had a similar award for his first year, and right before the end of his first quarter everything was changed to grants and he has paid $0 since, so I am anticipating only having to take two $1700 loans for first quarter. If I hear back from washington scholars and get an award from them, I’ll probably just be stuck with the EFC. Praying for local and honors scholarships right now.
