Can someone please explain this whole financial aid thing? I really don't understand mine...
Congrats to all the other admits!!!!

Also, can someone explain this please? Thank youu!!

Parents Share $40,984.00
Students Loan And Work $10,700.00
Total Resources to Meet My Net Costs $51,684.00

Total Resources to Meet My UC Berkeley Costs
$52,356.00

Sorry to steal your thread but I have a quick question about financial aid as well but didn’t want to make a new thread to fill up the forum. So when you guys log onto the financial aid website, you see the “Net Cost Page.” Near the top, there’s the yellow box which lists your info. Does anyone else’s estimated graduation say May, 2013?

thats like what i got… 50k is what we have to pay i think…
cuz we’re Out of State… this sux

Yeah so I’m not going if it’s this expensive…

Didn’t someone tell you about how expensive Berkeley was for OOS students before?

yeah i heard… but now i see it right in front of me… lol
is there anyway we can get more financial aid? i mean who in their right mind will pay 50k/year for an undergrad degree?

It’s possible to appeal your FA offer. But a good 22k of that cost is OOS fees, which absolutely will not be covered by any aid that Berkeley offers.

And 50k in tuition for a top school is really quite common.

Well USC is gonna give me 20k just for being a national merit finalist plus university grants… its just because its UC and they are broke as dirt, and the whole point of admitting OOS students was to bring in money… does the appeal even work? i mean i could work with 22k maybe

If you can show that Berkeley overestimated (by 30k) the amount you can afford to spend, it might work. The UCs give no merit aid, so unless you can do that it’s not going to happen.
