How much were you awarded this year? Did any of you receive the SEOG grant? I have a 4.0 GPA and will have to pay out-of-state tuition, yet I wasn't awarded the SEOG grant.

I haven’t gotten my finaid for this upcoming year, but last year I got a total of 13k from grants + 5k in loans.

Nope. No SEOG grant.

I only got UCR, pell, and cal grant.

Last year… I got ACG too ): but not this year because I think I have too many units or something. ugh.

I got 17.5k~ total. It’s technically enough.

I’m getting about 6k a quarter… and ucr is charging me 4k. I technically have 2k over for housing.

i got 14.8k in ucr grant and a 3.5k federal loan.

I am so ***ed because my UCR Grant is only $290 total… !
Last year I got like $5,000 something.
Anyone else have this cuz I think I might be the only one…

lol, stuff like this is bound to happen.

when you’re a freshmen, they want to lure you in with all the finaid that they can offer to you. once you start going to a school, they might decrease your finaid because you’re going to ucr already… they don’t need to lure you in anymore.

my ucr grant decreased by 50%

how much do you have currently?
college should be free. lol

ucr grant? went from 3.4k to 1.7k.

My UCR grant went from $0 (last year) to $13.6k (this year). Are there any out-of-state transfer or in-state students who received $0 in grants?

@EminentFigure: I concur! Too bad that isn’t how the system works.

@jenuwin01: Is that amount for the whole 2010-2011 academic year or each quarter? You said that you have 17.5k in grants, but how is it possible for you to receive that much money if your UCR grant is that little and when the cal grant and pell grants?

btw, everything has been credited in growl for me!

if you see OUTSTANDING BALANCE: $1234 <credit>
that means you will get $1234 back through a refund check.</credit>

cal grant = 10302
pell = 5550
ucr = 1840

total is about 17.5k~

–

i got 18.2k for my first year.

my ucr grant went from 8k to 300 but i got two cal grant Cal grant B and Cal grant B stipend

Wow! I never knew that the Cal grants gave that much money. jenuwin01, what was your EFC for this year? For some odd reason I only received 50% of the maximum amount for the Pell grant (the maximum is 5550) yet I was given 13k for the UCR grant.

Are these grants merit or need based?

My efc was too high and so now I’m taking almost 10k in loans and I don’t want to have to do it again next year.

need based definately(ucr,cal,pell)
my efc freshman year was 16000
and recieved like 300 in gift aid
my efc this year was 10,500
and recieved like 11,111 in gift aid
i think they base it on need.

My EFC is 0. Most finaid is usually need based.

Well, since you’re out of state and don’t get cal grant, that’s probably why you got 13K UCR grant.

When I got my finaid package before I submitted my SIR, I had 13k UCR grant too… but I had Cal Grant B… and the number was really low. They switched my Cal Grant B to Cal Grant A… Then my UCR grant dropped. I was going to get 18k either way. UCR was going to make up for whatever cal grant didn’t… not that any of this is relevant really lolol
