Im tellin you the defense is bad because Greg Robinson is the worst coach in football. i guarantee if you brought practically anyone else in they would get a couple more wins. I watched as my team syracuse blew up over 4 years with him as head coach. he was the worst thing ive ever seen and he has no idea what hes doing

his denver broncos defense was top 5 in the league when they won those superbowls… his texas defense was top notch when they won the NC

I don’t know how much of the coaches fault it is when our D is so bad. No amount of coaching will make Kovacs a good football player. The offense isn’t great, but the defense is much worse. You can’t give up 38 or so points to Purdue and expect to win. The D lets up TDs way too often and the offense will get the ball at the 20 or 25. If the D made stops we could score more because we’d have better field position. How many 80-90 yard drive have we seen this season? Way too many.

Hey other than a few busted assignments against purdue i thought kovacs had a good season

Are you blinded with your kool-aid to NOT see the fact that our players don’t even know how to line up how the time and look completely confused? THAT is coaching. When you have the opponent’s WR beating our DB and getting ahead, that is talent. But you will not be able to convinced me and non-koolaid drinkers that we have the WORST talent in the big ten behind worldbeaters like Purdue, Northwestern and Indiana considering that guess what, we finished last in the big ten.

When you have the opponent’s WR wide open with no players within 10 yard vicinity, that is COACHING. One glaring example was the long TD after the onside kick vs purdue, amongst many many other cases.

When you have player biting on the fake half the time the opponent, that is COACHING and DISCIPLINE. When you have players giving up their lane and allow pro-type QB that run 5.2 40 look like track stars every other plays, that is COACHING and DISCIPLINE.

Oh and don’t bring up lame duck excuses like 3 DC in 3 seasons. That is self inflicted by this clown. No one point a loaded gun at RR to hire Shaffer.

^good point

Ehh I still think its too early to make hasty moves. Next year will definitely tell michigan fans all they need to know. I mean think about it, our offensive veteran over the past two years has been greg matthews. We are still very young. Our team should(i say that hesistantly) be better next year with more experienced players. We will have good returning starters on defense in donovan warren, mike martin, and craig roh. Two of those are freshman and have bright futures. And we will have decent receivers next year with roy roundtree showing up as a future number 1 or 2. However, if there is no improvement with the resources we have then rich rod is out, plain and simple.

Our D coaching is very poor. RR lets Greg Robinson run the whole thing, which is a huge mistake. I’ve heard that Greg tries to teach them too many new schemes. Let’s be like Iowa and only use 2-3 different packages and coverages. Every defensive coach should be fired because they have enough talent to be better. But not a whole lot better.
