Firefighter

My friend wants to become a firefighter. He and I both agree that having a college degree could help him if he decides to change careers later on, but he doesn't know what to major in. He goes to UC Davis and is looking at exercise bio. What would be a good major for a similar career or just a good major in general? (i.e. If he quits firefighting, he can still get a desk job.) Here's a list of Davis majors:
UC Davis : More than 100 majors

As a current volunteer firefighter / EMT in a large suburban department I can tell you this: almost 60% of slost go to military 35% to college grads and 5% to others with previous firefighting experience. So yes, go to college.

Major in whatever you want. Also check out forums.firehouse.com in the probies forum
