Does UChicago require first quarter grades for ED or EA students?
They require a mid-year report from the GC which will include a transcript. But not sure whether that’s for everyone including those accepted EA/EDI or just for those whose decisions will come out after Jan. 1. If you apply early and are accepted then finding out what else they need from you will be a happy bridge to cross at that time. They’ll probably let you know and you can always touch base to ask.
Everyone has to submit a final transcript - failing to do so may hold up your ability to register for classes or get housing.
I would be surprised if there’s a requirement for that. Comparatively few people in the U.S. have quarterly grades. Even when they do. first quarter grades often aren’t available until around the first week of December at the earliest, by which time 95% of the ED I and EA decisions have already been made. Many grades wouldn’t be available. So if there were a requirement, it would affect only a small percentage of early applicants. That doesn’t seem fair.
I bet they assume that if the grades are good, they will hear from the applicant as quickly as possible. So a rule mandating submission would only hurt people who had some negatives in their reports.
^^Correct - for EDI or EA, only the transcript through Junior year is required in order for the application to be “complete”. All materials have to be in w/in a short time following 11/1 or on the deadline itself so too early for first trimester or quarter grades. They are not required in order to receive a decision. The deadline for the mid-year report is 2/1 or as soon as possible after mid-year grades are issued. So EDII decisions - out in Mid. Feb. - probably do factor in first semester or first trimester grades.
As others have stated, Feb 1st (or when issued, later is ok if school issues later.)
You may want to submit an official transcript from senior year, even without grades, to show course load. This would include college transcripts (if registered) or dual credit.
