Okay, so my friend is applying ED to Duke and she told me her school requires first quarter grades to be sent.

Is there something like this for Penn!?! At my school, we work on a semester system, so like quarter grades aren't recorded anywhere...and my quarter grades havent been as stellar as my normal grades (I am a straight-a student), and while I am certain I will get these up by January, is there any way Penn will check up on me for these grades?

I've been very consistent throughout high school, almost all A's..but I was sick with swine flu toward the end of the quarter and so some of my assignments won't be recorded in this marking period and will be corrected later on!

Should I be worried!?

my school sends first quarter grades as well

Thanks…my school does not as far as I know since we function on the semester system, but are they required for Penn…is there any way for them to know?

If your school doesn’t send your grades, you’re fine. If you get deferred, your school will send Penn and all of your other schools your semester grades.

If you are accepted, Penn will get your semester grades regardless. You cannot have a C. I heard a story about a guy from someone’s school who had a C (I’m not sure if it was the second semester of first) whose acceptance was rescinded.

But, I’m sure you’ll be fine. Don’t worry too much.

I did hear though that sometimes they call the school and ask? Is this true?!

ahhhhh i hope not!

When i went for the campus tour at Penn, i asked my guide this question. He said that for ED applicants, Penn DOES NOT look at first quarter senior year grades. Only if you get deferred, do they consider them.
