when do colleges see your grades for the first semester of your senior year? does one B (88 in eng 4 ap) really matter to the really selective colleges?

A lot of the colleges that I know check the grades right at the end of high school. I don't know about the ones you applied too, though. As for the 88 In AP English, I don't think i would eve apply to college with that grade, seriously.

During the RD process, schools with get your mid year report which wil have your first semester grades (which would most likely be an average of your first and second marking period grades).

In addition, remember that your admission is contigent upon successful completion of high school at pretty much the same performance level which you were admitted.

One B won't matter (the others are As, right?).

My Calc BC teacher will be in the hospital all year and we have a horrible subsitute. As a result, I will have a horrible grade at the end of the semester(MAYBE a B- if I'm lucky). My counselor said he will write a note to colleges that explains the low grade since so many kids have complained. Will one low grade really hurt me? I have never gotten below a B+ for a final grade in my life.

ya all the others are A's. but how do the colleges view the grades? do they see each individual semester's final grade? or the final course at the course end, which is end of the year for most?

I'm going to end up with a 65 average in AP Bio for the first two terms, with all the rest 90+. I've been told time and again not to worry about it, so I give you all the same advice I was given. I also signed early for track, so I'm in quite the predicament if I don't get accepted.

You've been told not to worry about a D grade? I would be worried... that is not good.

Think about this:

Even if you have 6 classes where you got a 99 in each class, and 1 class where you got a 65, it would bring your average down to 94.142

By the same token if you have 6 classes where you got a 92 in each class, and 1 class where you got a 65, it would bring your average down to 88.142

Which would be a major ding to your overall gpa/ ranking (if your school ranks)

no one under any circumstances wants to see a D on a transcript aand it will cause a few head shaking moments.
