Do first semester senior grades need to be sent to USMA if you already have an appointment, or can you just send in the final report?

USMA will send instructions for absolutely everything you need to do before you report on R-Day and there is even a checklist in the back of the booklet. Happy reading! ;)

Yes, I believe 7th semester grades need to be sent in even if you have an appointment. Admissions wants to see that you are not slacking off.....;)

what if in one extremely hard class I have a C, is that considered slacking off?

good student,

If this "C" is not a common grade for you, try not to worry about it too much. Admissions looks at your overall performance. If you are medically qualified, have good ECs, test scores and GPA, then try to focus on the positives of your application. Don't get distracted by the one "C". Just try to bring it up this semester.

My school's semester doesn't end until after Feb.1, I've tried contacting every admissions rep at USMA and they all seem to be gone, I won't lose my appointment because my schools semester ends after the deadline, will I?

Nine deuce: No, you won't lose your appointment. E-mail your Regional Commander and explain the situation (they usually have access to e-mail even when away), and then send in your transcript when you have it.

I just checked the WP site and don't see my son's 7th semester grades as received...so nine deuce's post has me in a panic! I emailed the admission rep via the wp site to let them know we turned it in and would they check for receipt...in the mean time, I emailed the school asking if they sent it...also asked if I could fax a report card copy...first semester grades were actually the best of the entire HS career...so would hate for those to be left out!

Good student: Welcome - do you have an appointment? If so, I don't think "one C in a really tough course" will be a problem.
Keep focussed and good luck!

mom3boys: Don't panic, it will get sorted out. It may be that admissions has your son's transcript, but has not processed it yet. On the other hand things can and do get lost...
It is a good reminder for candidates to keep track of deadline dates and also to follow up and make sure that admissions has received submissions.
As a gentle reminder (not meant as a dig at you mom3boys), it is always better for the candidate to follow up, rather than the parent. This holds true for USMA admissions and also nomination sources. Timing sometimes makes it difficult (most candidates are at school or playing sport when offices are open) but it is a general rule that should be followed if possible.

Admissions deals with situations in which schools don't send out 7th and /or 8th sememster transcripts untill after the "deadlines" every year. The candidate should email or call their USMA admissions counselor and just let them know the dates when your school releases them. This happened for both sememsters with our cadet.

He sent an email this a.m. via the candidate login site...so they are aware...

Yes, I do have an appointment, so the deadline for second semester grades is feb 1?

Congratulations!
You should have a booklet with instructions for accepted candidates that will include the deadlines for submission. Have you received it yet?

hey i am confused now too. I recieved an appointment and my booklet has a request for final transcripts, but not for the first semester transcripts...??? little help?

Just follow the written directions....it may help to read the entire booklet from cover to cover and then read it all again :). BTW, the checklist on the back page is a great way to keep track of all that you need to accomplish before R-Day.

After rereading the booklet, if you still have a question about whether to send in your 7th semester grades, then call or email admissions and ask.

At this point last year, my son did not have an appointment so he sent in his seventh semester grades to update his file. You have an appointment so you only need to send the information that is specified in your instructions.

Many congratulations for receiving the appointment!!

oh, i see. yea i read the entire booklet and it only asks me to send my final transcripts...thanks

read the admissions booklet that came with the application packet - isn't there a postcard that you are to have your guidance counselor complete and send in for your 7th semester grades?

Yes, the card and instructions are in the "Instructions for Applicants" book.
Page 7:
"Upon completion of the first half of your senior year of high school, complete your portion of this card and give it to your guidance counselor to fill out and mail so that Admissions will receive it by Feb. 1. Please note that in addition to these fall grades, an admitted candidate's record should ultimately reflect satisfactory completion of all academic course work to include spring programs. failure to submit this data will be cause for file closure or for withdrawel of an offer of admission."

...my son must have handled sending in that card. Obviously my memory is faulty.

Champs06, you can fax admissions your grades from your school.
