first time taking act and got a bad score

I accidently posted in the Caltech forum the first time
anyways
So I didn’t get to bubble in all my answers bc of a bad testing strategy…
How will my first ACT score affect chances at UC Berkeley or the other schools that require all scores if it’s mid 20’s?
How many times do I have to retake for them to overlook it as maybe a bad day?

ex. first time taking it: bad score (24)
second time taking it: good score (32)

You can retake as often as you like. It really depends on if the college asks for all tests, or lets you super score.

If the 1st one was a National Test Date, you can permanently delete it. No one needs to see it.

State Test dates you can’t delete.

If you submit two ACT tests, colleges fall into one of two categories: (a) they will use that test with the highest composite to dermine admisison and not use the lower score test agaisnt you; (b) they will superscore the tests, meaning they use the best section scores from the combined tests to detemrine admission. In other words, take one more test and score high and the first one will be history unless it happens to have a higher section score than the first for colleges that superscore.
