First Timer for ACT- studying hard

I am going to be a junior in the fall. I am taking the ACT for the first time in September and I am ready to start studying (I've done a little bit on my own). I have the Real ACT Prep Guide and i will be gettting the books Cracking the ACT and 1296 ACT Practice Question on Tuesday. I've been readin the forums and have found that these are the 3 books everyone recommends the most. I want to know what is the best way to study using these books.

I would read through the Cracking the ACT book before anything else for sure.

Then, it would be at your discretion to either do all 1296 questions followed by the ACT prep guide (the red book, as we say in the business ;)) or take a practice test and then read 1296 and then take the other two tests or any other combination.

I would recommend doing all of the PR books (1296 and cracking) first, and then do the red book tests. You want to take those when you are at the height of your ACT ability.

thanks. Also, If you know or can help in anyway, do both of the PR books give good explanations of the math section. I’m usualy very good at math (hands down its my easiest subject in school) but there are concepts that I’m jus not familiar with. I’m also skipping Trig this year for Pre-Cal so i won’t be familiar with that either. Just wondering if the books do a good job of breaking down what i need to know and if you have any tips or strategies.
