Fitness, Nutrition and Health- All Welcome (Hardcore and “Light”)

Hi Everyone! I have been lurking w.o posting here but am now working on my reset after illness/injuries/travel. I am in a 3x/week yoga routine and am starting back to running. With the ice here unfortunately that’s treadmill running but I’m thankful to have that option. I have found that my knee with the torn meniscus feels better if I run with the brace.

Signed up for a 5K on April 2. Having a race planned is motivating for me. I can always walk as much as I need to.

@sushiritto I’m not surprised, but it’s very unfortunate.

That describes me, on my WFH days (aka nearly every day since March of 2020), I’m lucky to break 1K of steps.

I continue to do my thing every day. I played pickleball for 2.5 hours today, and doubled my watch move ring, even though it didn’t track about 30 minutes of my playing.

Checking in. Who knew about 6 weeks of 70 degree weather, we would get our first snow of any kind for the season on March 12th?! It was just a dusting. The temps never fell below 34*, but it accumulated some on cars and in the grass before changing to rain. We will count it!

I’m still doing my thing. I guess it’s going OK. Not any worse. Today I ran 6ish miles, 20 minutes on the stationary bike, then did a back & biceps workout. It was really hard to get motivated. H is off this week and younger S is here until tomorrow, but once I heaved my body out of bed and slunk outside, I was glad I did it.

Went skiing yesterday with my daughter (and we had our Daddy Driver” who wasn’t skiing but didn’t mind driving us up and hanging out in the lodge). Lots of new snow… I had my new downhill skis, and they (and I) definitely had a good workout!

Wow - it’s been 9 days since anyone posted here. I have been rotating walking/elliptical/pickleball/indoor bike, with light weights thrown in occasionally. I’m close to 350 days in a row of closing my move ring or more. My plan is to purposefully miss a day after I get to 365. Stay tuned.

You make me laugh with “purposefully miss a day after 365”. BUT I get it. We can be a slave to those streaks and sometimes it does more harm than good mentally!

Still waiting for the spring weather to more officially turn the corner. I am appreciating the extra light at night so more opportunities and time to add in an evening exercise (already do morning exercise before work). Still too dark for me to run during the week in the morning before work but I’ve been adding in some short evening runs and I have to say, as someone who runs recreationally but still doesn’t get “runners high”, I am enjoying these evening runs where I give myself permission to do as much or little as I want.

I’ve had COVID (though not too terrible). Two days were total losses for exercise, but most days I’ve been able to do some walking and/or exercise videos.

Unlucky on the Covid, lucky it appears to have not stopped you too much! Hope it’s presence exists your system totally!

Thanks… I’ll assume you meant exits?

Does anybody walk/run past playgrounds or areas with kids playing? I just love to hear the laughter , but so far I have not timed it right. Last week there were some kids on the street playing ball, which looked fun. Hopefully soon I’ll run past some soccer practices at the park. The fields there only big enough for younger teams (“swarmball”), lots happy little ones skipping around.

I live a few houses away from the local elementary school. My favorite thing is to walk my dogs past the school during recess. It’s the best sound ever. It also makes me so nostalgic for the days when mine were little and I could walk past and catch a glimpse of them out there.

YES! The county park where I often play pickleball tore down the old kids play area (which looked perfectly fine to me, BTW), and built a new one. We see and hear kids there often, and I love that they’re playing outside, with each other.

There is a neighborhood park just a block from our house. I often walk the dog past in the nicer weather and enjoy seeing families hanging out. We also have a 3 mile round trip trail a block from our house and also enjoy seeing families walking/biking/strollering/skating, etc. I like when it’s lively - except when people hog the entire width of the trail!

For those who opt to take daily multi-vitamin, what are your criteria for choosing?

I usually to women’s age 50+ (often store brand). I’m pondering a walk down to Walgreen’s and was surprised at the variety of choices in that category on their website.

What’s on sale (especially at Costco) is probably the biggest influence for me.

I don’t take a multivitamin. I take calcium and D for osteoporosis but nothing else.
