I thought I’d hit the basement gym yesterday afternoon, but ended up spending the afternoon on line playing games with our son and figuring out how to set up an alternative to Zoom which he feels has too many security flaws.
I did my super-minimal work out of 10 jumping jacks, 16 squats, a bunch of knee raises and kicking butts, one plank, 8 push-ups, cooling down with a few Yoga moves.
It was storming and pouring and all that mess during my workout time this morning. Slept in for ~30 min and hit the shed. The workout video happened to be Endurance & Agility, so I got in my aerobics fix. It was tough! Loved that the tiny Denmark girl kicked butt. The UK dude notsomuch! I was somewhere in between. I prefer the 30 sec intervals with 10 sec recovery vs 60 sec with longer breaks. I have no power, so I recover fast. Then some abs and then stretching. I also power walked at lunch for an hour.
Having a “feeling frumpy” day. Walked this morning. Chilly and grey outside. Drizzle at times. Haven’t been eating awful but just feel stagnant and…“frumpy”!!!
Will probably get out for another walk or something. Just one of those “trapped” feeling days.
Did my 60 minutes of cardio on indoor bike, then yoga moves for beginners and some other exercises.
I never weigh myself except at drs office, but I suspect I may have gained a little weight during this crisis, but hopefully due to gaining a little muscle.
I hope all frumpy feelings go away! @abasket Mine are usually hormonal, but I call those days “I’m fat. I’m ugly, and everybody hates me days.” They are the worst. I just want to hide. I hope today is better.
So glad it’s Friday. The Ec Dev office has been driving me nuts. I love them, but oh my… so many questions that they won’t like the answers to… A large, super hilly, densely forested tract located 1 mile downstream of the treatment plant is not an ideal location for a major industry… But I digress…
My legs are sore in all weird places from the agility workout. So my run was ouchy, but still good. Today’s workout was Pull. It was hard, but that made it easier because I can only do but so much. I can’t do 3x1 min of pull-ups with 30 sec rest at the end! I did what I could for set 1 and then used a chair. Much easier. I’m sure I’ll still be sore tomorrow.
3 mile walk/run this morning. Different route so I had to cross some grassy areas which made me result to walking so I didn’t get off balance or find a hole to twist an ankle!
My Allbirds running shoes arrived while I was out running. I just took them for a dog walk. I got the mint green. They are comfortable- maybe the feel of Brooks Ghost. I wear 7 1.2 in street shoes, 8 1/2 in most running shoes (8 in Hoka). I got 8 in these and if they were going to be distance shoes, I might have needed 8 1/2. I suspect these will mainly be walking/fashion/gym shoes for me with some shorter runs. They are pretty- and the upper is stretchy with no tongue- 1 piece. Feels good and seems very breathable. Probably squarely in the category of things I didn’t need, but now I have them! I like Allbirds a lot as a company, so there’s that.
Happy to report that I have lost ten pounds since New Years Day. Since I’m eating pretty much what I always have, I really think it’s the additional exercise. (50 minute High Intensity yesterday. )
@MomofWildChild - I like Allbirds, too as both a company and the products (I own 2 pair of wool runners). My bad for not telling you to size up, I love the shoes but they run small. Glad you like them.
I’ve ridden my bike 30 minutes today, and will do another 30 soon. It was not very nice this morning, but it’s looking nicer now. Maybe I’ll venture for a walk a little later.
Yesterday I got an e-mail with yoga stretches suggested for bikers. So, I tried them all in addition to the other things I did.
@FallGirl I have a bunch of Allbirds. I think I’m OK with this size- these do come in half sizes. I think they would have been too sloppy of a fit with the extra half size.
3.2 miles at the trail today. It’s a glorious spring day, the sun is very welcoming. Will either golf or walk while my husband golfs later today.
I was “influenced” by @MomofWildChild and ordered the Allbirds running shoe. I wear Brooks Ghost and the Runner’s world review thought that they were a good match. I bought my athletic shoe size and the size I have in the wool runners. They haven’t shipped yet (ordered about a week ago) but am looking forward. I think they will serve a role for supportive shoes that don’t look like running shoes, at least that’s what I hoping.
It looks like these shoes are being shown with socks? I don’t wear my wool runners with socks, but I’m not adverse to wearing socks.
LOL. Glad I spent some of your money @deb922 ! The insides of these aren’t like the wool runners, so I would recommend socks. I actually ordered some of the Allbirds socks (not here yet) to try. I hope you like them. They should show up soon.
I haven’t posted in a few days, but I’m still reading along and enjoying everyone’s posts. @mathmom Congrats on losing 10 pounds!
My body is sore in so many places this week, but I’m still plugging away here in the background. I did take Wednesday off, but the body feels less than ideal.
Deadlifts yesterday and long 3-section 41-minute WOD of pull-ups and ring dips, assault bike and thrusters, then lighter deadlifts and toes-to-bar. There were 5 minute breaks between sections, which were needed.
And speaking of purchases, I bought a new weight scale. I was getting sick and tired of the old one.
Got back to my regular yoga class today, after two days off. I overdid a virtual kettlebell workout on Tues. Pushed myself and hurt my arms/hands doing cleans and then goblet squats didn’t help my knees. I used to take a kettlebell class that I really enjoyed, but it’s been a long time. Made me realize that it takes me longer to come back than it did 5-6 years ago. I feel like I’m on my way to being one of those old people hobbling around in the park with a cane. Yikes.
