Fitness, Nutrition and Health- All Welcome (Hardcore and “Light”)

@ohiooiho Oh no- mine are NOT perfect. They are all inside cats, though. One poops on the sofa if we don’t get his wet food out at the right time for his dinner. One pees on the dog beds to let us know that we didn’t need dogs! And the barfing- always on the carpet!

Good workout @ClassicMom98 ! You are a beast!

8.1 miles for me. Did a little different route and ran into some snow fencing with No Trespassing signs between one neighborhood and a senior living neighborhood. There was also a big construction site which I think is the new community police station. I wasn’t sure whether I wasn’t supposed to be near the construction site or the senior living community. Of course, such signage doesn’t apply to ME, so around the fence I went! I didn’t see a soul or touch anything around the roads in the senior community, and the construction site was well fenced and no activity was going on, so not sure what the deal was. Started with some walking breaks after 4 miles. Glad to get that done.

8 miler? awesome.

I struggled with 5 yesterday in the heat – upper 80’s. (But did work on my Vitamin D just in case that helps with covid!)

3 miles at the trails. Lululemon challenge done.

It was 41 degrees but sunny for my run. We had a record low (middle Tennessee) this morning. It actually was nice for running- but not what we want for May around here!

I’m a little behind, but Thursday was 90+ with the home gym probably 5-10 degrees hotter. Strength session was achieving a heavy double on the bench press. The HIIT was five 3-minute WODs, with one minute of rest in between, of jump rope, jumping lunges and then with the time left over in the 3-minute period, an AMRAP with the barbell (cleans/squats/jerks).

I took Friday off and got back at it today. Weather is milder today. Mid 70’s. Nice!

It’s amazing what a day off does for you. After a 1-mile warmup run, my strength session was back squats, working up to a heavy triple. Then 2 supersets of barbell step-ups and glute ham raises. The HIIT was 5 sets of the assault bike, wall balls and DB lunges with 1-minute breaks in between sets. And finally, the core section was 3 sets of RDL’s (Romanian Deadlifts), ring dips and GHD sit-ups.

Just exhausted. But a good exhausted. Time for a cup of Kona. ?

Thanks for feedback, all. I will get back to those of you who PM’d, probably tomorrow. Tonight, dh and I are finishing season 2 of Dead to Me.

Catching up… fun updates.

Here is what I pack before driving to our local lake trail (3.5 miles - I run timed 5k, verrry slow compared to some of ya). “F” list

  • Face (sunblock on face; also arms and legs if very sunny)
  • Facial tissue (kleenex or napkin in pocket)
    -Fluonase (if allergy season)
-Food (8 necco wafers… usually I only use a few of them)
  • Fluid (flask of water, usually in back pocket of shirt or shorts pocket… sometimes waist pouch)
    - Fone (cellphone, storage same as Fluid above)

Before I leave, usually I also do a “G” item added last year… Google map locator for hubby. Once parked, I add my car key to pocket. No id, except cellphone (but it cellphone does have an address sticker on back, underneath my clear case)
.

Happy Mother’s Day all!

The last two training sessions went well with no setbacks.

Wish I was hiking today! Instead I’m waiting for the rain to pause to walk the dog.

Steak for dinner tonight and I’ll enjoy 2 rest days in a row.

Beautiful day today but on the cool side this morning. 4.3 miles done. I’ve cleared the interstate east of Memphis and on my way to Oakland, TN in the Virtual Great Race Across Tennessee. Sticking to the plan! Long ways to go.

My son took me to the ropes and ziplining course this morning. Very fun and nice to see all the families taking their mom climbing for Mother’s Day.

Waiting to connect with the kids for group chat.

Ran the Mother’s Day miler this morning. It was virtual of course but I was so happy to see that the race sold out. This is good news for both the small business that organizes the races and the charity the race supports. I ran my 4 mile PR (40.57 pace 10:13) which I was very please with. Of course I did choose a flattish route.

Happy Mothers Day!

@FallGirl - Nice job on getting a PB. That would be an awesome. These days (with mask) just breaking 40 min for 5k was my victory.

Happy Mother’s Day to the moms here.
I have been lazy all weekend but had fun with my son and his gf who came to visit.
No perfect cats in our house either. The old one is really having a hard time with the young one, and they’ve only had a chance sighting so far.

Hmmm…I’m not sure I could do that!

I can get about 10-12 feet up our extension ladder and that’s when every sensor in my body says STOP.

So much for cleaning the gutters ourselves! O.O

I’m glad you had a fun day!

Un-freakin’-believable!! It is 88 degrees here currently. The weather man lied… said it would be 82. We are melting on the deck… will go for a walk in an hour or so.

I did not run this weekend. On Saturday I gardened (well actually weeded) … and then near end stepped in a hole. All seemed well, but then on Saturday night and Sunday I’ve had pain near my heel. The pain mostly goes away in my cushy new running shoes (mail ordered recently …decided today to keep them!). But I’ll take a break from running for a while.

Monday again. Yesterday was an off day, but I got in an hour fast walk and a half hour family stroll – and my range and repair (relax/stretching) video. I was not feeling it this morning. I gave myself permission to do the run VERY easy – and while it was easy, it wasn’t bad and better than I would have guessed. At least I ran a few mph faster than I walked. I don’t seem to breathe as hard running super easy vs fast walking though. Then the video was Week 3 push. It made me forget my blahs. Most of the moves are combo moves that require coordination and mobility – not my strength. It takes a round or 2 for me to feel comfortable.

I’m a bit blah today. I only have to work 8-3 the next few days, as I have 8 hours vacation to use before Friday. With nowhere to go, I’d rather just work part days than have a day off to do nothing. I’ve been working on cleaning up the attic and should finish up this week. We had it redone 2 weeks ago, so I guess we’re outside the window that we got infected by anyone. It’s been a huge amount of work cleaning up all of the toxic remnants of debris/dust and organizing/purging everything, but it’s looking really good. And my homemade folded sheet masks have worked very well. But the shop vac has wigged out on me. I cleaned the filter, but it’s still not doing the job. On to level 2 of investigation/repair. Sigh… It’s always something breaking, needing attention, etc.

Sunny but still chilly morning. Would have loved this weather last September when summer was lasting forever! 4 outside miles on my virtual journey across Tennessee. Walked the dogs and once I am unchained from my computer and phone, I’ll try to do a little more running to end my workday.

@colorado_mom

I love warm epsom salt baths for when my feet ache. I hope your heel feels better soon.

It’s in the low 40s here again, grey, and threatening rain – speaking of feeling blah.

Yesterday and today are rest days for me, but I took some time last night to transfer info from my training log to my online spreadsheet.

It’s satisfying to look at almost a year’s worth of lifts on the spreadsheet. One thing I notice is despite setbacks, injuries, illness, vacation time…I’ve missed very few training sessions. Slow and steady, but moving forward.

I was pretty good today. 4 mile or so walk, 30 minutes of indoor biking, and some yoga and stretching.
Hope to keep up my trend of doing an hour of cardio most every day, and some other light activities too.
