I was considering UIUC as my college option from fall of 2012. I'm an Illinois resident, and I've heard a ton about UIUC. I know it's a reputable college, not sure about how much money they give financially or in scholarships, however, I also heard that it is HUGE on the Greek system. I don't plan on joining a sorority because I don't drink in my religion, and I feel that's the major thing in a sorority, correct me if I'm wrong. So, do you think it'd be hard for me to fit in and find my own group if I don't join a sorority?

Nope, fitting in wont be a problem simply because only half the students there are in frat/sorority so there is the other half out there who are just like you!

Fitting in won’t be a problem at all, there are ton of people not in the Greek system. On a broader note, there are also a ton of people who don’t drink, so you’ll have no problem finding friends period.

Though again, there are some sororities that don’t drink or aren’t as big on drinking. You can always check those out should you decide to.

Thanks =] . and I didn’t know there were sororities that didn’t drink. First
thing that comes to my head when I hear sorority is drinking lol. Do you know of any certain ones like that or where I could find out about them?

I would just wait until you get on campus. Then you can rush and really find out what the sororities are like. Everyone has a biased opinion.

Correction. Only a third of people (not even) are in sororities/frats at UIUC. You’ll be fine. Just join clubs that interest you, and you’ll find your niche. As for financial aid, you won’t find much here.

hahahahahahaha financial aid is a joke here.
