FIU Orientation

Has anyone signed up for orientation at FIU?
How is it?
How much do you pay?

Its 90 dollars for the students and 40 dollars for any additional guest (i.e Your parents). Its mandatory and its two days. You have to stay the night basically. There was orientation going on when I went to visit FIU in the summer. It looks pretty fun actually. Haha.

I signed up and only paid 70.00 dollars…I have no idea why?
Which one did you guys sign up for? I’m at the Aug 15-16 at MMC

Havent signed up for orientation yet but I am sigining up for Augst 15-16. There is a Panther camp for 3 days the week b4 that for undergraduates. It’s kind of a way to get to know other new undergrads in a fun way. They give you alot of tips amd its only $65 in central Florida. What I hear -lots of fun and you get to start the new year with some established relationships from the camp.

The sooner you go through orientation the sooner you can fix any issues and actually sign up for classes. If you wait till the last orientations you might only get to choose from a few classes which sucks. As for Panther Camp its ehh you’ll have fun if you want to have fun it’s pretty foofy (crying fest) but very few people actually go. (in comparison to the freshmen class as a whole)

@malva053: Wait, I got accepted to the Honors College, so I get Priority Registration for Classes no matter when I choose to attend orientation, right? or am I completely wrong?

ehhh honor’s college usually has a separate orientation special just for honors college. There you will learn the requirements that come from honors college in addition the benefits which is priority registration. as a freshmen honors student you will be required to attend honors college orientation not regular orientation thus you don’t have the option to procrastinate and sign up for a later registration. the priority registration pays off as a sophomore and JR. however, it will be at a cost of being forced to attend some lectures and required honors class. A lot of people tend to drop honors at this time due to not wanting their time sucked up by it. Others decide not to join honors until last semester as a sophomore so they only have to take honors classes for JR and SR year. If your planning on getting into MED school, Law school, or Grad school in general… Stay in honors. Doesn’t help much in the professional world but it helps tons with recommendation letters.
Hope that answers your question. Sorry for the lengthy response.

@malva053; No apology necessary at all, man. I love in-depth answers, thanks alot.
