If not - did anyone just finish participating in their own state level thespian competition?

It was my first time going - conflicts kept me from going previous years, though I've participated in district level all four years of high school.

It amazed me seeing my peers and just how TALENTED so many of them were. And besides that, meeting so many talented young actors who were as passionate and dedicated to theatre as me was so so so very exciting!

I also participated in the "College/scholarship" audition. I was asked to several callbacks, but the schools present were ones I either hadn't heard of, or were not interested in (AMDA, for example).

PENN State was supposedly there, but none of my friends or I knew of anyone getting a callback for them - isn't it a little late in the year to still be auditioning people for that program? I wondered about that.

Anyway - I just wanted to know if any of u were FL Thezzies and if so I wanted to know if I had seen you perform! You all saw me perform if you were there b/c I was in the opening ceremonies w/my pals and our puppets ;)

Cary Libkin told me last week in NYC that he was headed to the Florida Thespian competition. He goes there to screen juniors whom he may want to encourage to audition for Penn State the following year. Yes, it's much too late for seniors; most of us have made all of our offers by now.

It's my understanding that the optimum time to go to the state competition is in the spring of the junior year. My dd qualified on the district level last year by scoring superiors in both monologues and musical theater, but was playing Anne Frank at the time and decided she'd rather do the show. This year she qualified again in the same categories, but decided not to go since she had already auditioned for college.

I attended as well, Beeze, as you know. I was a part of the Avenue Q number in Opening Ceremonies (Go Brian and Kate!)

For anyone who is eligible to attend the Florida State Thespian Conferene (or any other state, conference), I strongly reccommend it. It's a great experience. There are workshops in dance, voice, and acting, as well as great shows adn individual events to see. Also, there are college auditions and scholarship auditions.

Awww, I just want to say how terribly jealous I am of all you Floridians. When I was going to DePaul there were so many kids from Florida and they all knew each other/each other's work from Thespians. I really wish we had had something like that in MI. Well, apparently we do but its bad and my director thought we were above it so just know you're lucky! :)
