Why is it important to receive the snail mail when the portals have the printable pdfs? Am I missing something?
@amsunshine I don’t know about everyone else, but we are hoping for some swag.
@ShrimpBurrito Oh! That makes sense!
It’s just fun! sometimes they send stickers or a poster or something to take a picture with to announce where’s you’re going.
Big packet arrived today for my daughter! I haven’t seen what’s in it yet but she said a big page of stickers!
Could you show me a screen shot or where you found that on Twitter? I couldn’t locate it but would really like to see that.
My son applied for summer and was accepted. We are out of state and not really familiar with FSU although we did visit and he loved it. It seems that a lot of people are talking about going to TCC, which I assume is Tallahassee Community College, and then going to FSU in next Spring or Fall. Do a lot of kids move to Tallahassee although they aren’t students at FSU? It seems like a strange set up. Do most summer students at FSU live in dorms or apartments?
Yes, some students go to the community colleges that are connected to the universities (Santa Fe at UF, Valencia at UCF) and then transfer. There are agreements for shared dorms (at FSU there are also shared facilities with FAMU too).
Most summer students live where they are going to live for the school year, so in dorms if they are going to live in the dorms for the rest of the year.
My daughter’s snail mail package came in the mail over the weekend so those of you who don’t have them should soon. Nice little package.
Not to mention the “real” letter is much nicer than a printed PDF version. At least ours was.
Just got the snail mail letter in Los Angeles today.
My son was accepted with Benacquisto
NMSF (hopefully a finalist)
4.0 unweighted GPA
35 ACT
1470 SAT

Visiting next week to help with the final decision (also accepted at Purdue)
Hi @durster My daughter was also accepted to FSU with the Benaquisto Great school and great scholarship opportunity!
Has anyone who was denied called admissions for an explanation?
i was accepted under the spring 2021 transfer condition and my mom was able to get through to call for an explanation as to why i wasn’t accepted for fall/summer. but this was the day after decisions came out
My son got accepted to Seminole Pathways, may go abroad fall semester and then either stay abroad a second semester or start FSU spring semester 2021. Not what we imagined for him and he is our oldest. Would appreciate any feedback.
@classymama My son is thinking about doing the full first year in London. While on the FSU abroad page, a window popped up and I was able to ask some questions. For London, it seemed that last year there were about 30 freshman students who did a full year in London before arriving at FSU the following Fall. And, there were about 150 FSU students at the FSU London campus. Day trips and overnight trips from London (and the other abroad locations) are listed on the webpage. I did ask if they do a full year if all the trips are a repeat and it seems most are not but some are repeated. I also checked that they would be guaranteed housing on the FSU campus when they arrived as Sophomores. The London campus is in a great area. We are out of state and if you complete the first year abroad you qualify for in-state tuition afterward. He was also accepted to UDelaware’s Global Scholar program and would study in Greece the first semester. The UDelaware program helps the students apply for Fulbright scholarships their Jr. year. Since my son was already looking at abroad programs, FSU’s Freshman year abroad seems exciting to him. He personally likes the idea of doing a full year, and arriving on campus in the Fall rather than mid-year, especially if there is a group doing the same. My older child is a Jr. in college and currently doing a semester abroad. She loves it but it was hard to disentangle herself from all her activities, lease her apartment out to someone her current roommates liked, and leave mid year in her Jr. year. It is also throwing off her Spring break with her friends, and getting organized for her Senior year. So, in retrospect, doing a semester or year abroad Freshman year seems to have some advantages.
@classymama @CUsucceed My D is a current year freshman at FSU and is really loving everything about the campus and the administration - FSU is a class act both stateside and internationally. My D will be traveling abroad this Summer through FSU. I wanted to chime in and tell you I have spoken to a lot of first-year abroad parents and have only heard wonderful comments about the program through FSU. I heard the FSU abroad facilities is top- notch and these FSU FYA kids have had experiences only others could have dreamed about. Many went for 1 semester and began FSU in the Spring. They even rushed sororities and frats in the Spring, which honestly is such a better process than the Fall. Good luck to your son!
@kgolby It is truly a crap shoot. Your daughter is well rounded and I am so sorry for her disapointment. We had our own experience last year with Florida Colleges with DE class reporting on the SSAR reading incorrectly which recalculated her weighted GPA a point lower. It was awful and the mistake was shared by UF. FSU was smart enough to investigate further when a grading deficiency appeared in the reporting.
For advanced high school students who have many DE classes the SSAR reporting can skew their GPA, if a one semester class which results in one grade is not reported twice on the SSAR. So even though a student will receive one “A,” they are to report it as two “A’s”. Our guidance counselor was clueless. I like the good ole days when you submitted DE college transcripts and the college counselors actually reviewed same. UCF actually requests college DE transcripts. I believe some of the best and brightest do not receive admission offers due to the algorithems and admissions offers not catching the incorrect reporting deficiencies when same occurs. All-in-All I believe all of our kids end up exactly where they need to be! I pray she has the best first year whichever college she lands!
@Happy4U2 for a dual Enrollment you only enter it twice if its a full 1.0 credit class. If it’s a .5 credit class you only enter it once. 90% of the classes are .5 and entered once. There are only a few classes that high school kids would take that are full year classes.
