I'm aware I'll never get in to an Ivy League, but that's sort of not what I want. I'd rather stay in-state at a decent public university rather than go up-state to a super expensive uni. If there are any other universities or colleges I seem okay to apply to, please tell me. FSU is just my first choice.
I am an African American in a low income household with a single parent.

Not really sure what you’re asking since the title says you need helping figuring this out, but then at the bottom it seems like you already know what you want?

I’m not really sure what you personally look for in a college, but since you want to stay in state I can list off all the other Florida universities I know (I’m from Florida too  )
UWF, UNF, UCF, USF, Rollins, New College, Florida Southern, University of Miami, Tampa University, Jacksonville University, Florida Atlantic University, Florida International University, FAMU, UF

If you are trying to find an angle to get you into FSU, here’s what’s sticking out to me…I don’t know what you want to do in life, but I think you have a strong record of volunteering. Maybe for essays and what not focus on one or two of your experiences helping others and then talk about how only FSU can give you the tools you need to go on helping more people. Look up some of the school’s programs or charitable organizations in the Tallahassee area that you would like to join and mention them. That’s just what spoke to me anyway.

I think you have a good shot at getting in! I honestly do. Just improve your scores and GPA like you mentioned and devote time to your application. Don’t worry if you’re “okay” to apply to a school. You may surprise yourself! Peace be with you!

This brought me plenty of peace. Thank you for the feedback!
