I’m a high school senior, and I found out my parents are moving to south Georgia, so I thought I’d apply to schools there and Florida. Narrowed it down to FSU, UGA, and Georgia Tech. The deadlines are coming up so I need to make a decision fast. Here’s some quick stats:
SAT CRW: 700
SAT Math: 740
AP Classes: 8 (Three 5s and a 3, four scores pending)
GPA: 4.02 weighted (4.14 projected)
I intend to study international affairs. I understand UGA and Georgia Tech have separate schools for this field, but FSU will be closer to home. What are the pros and cons of each of these universities, in terms of my major and just in general? Thanks!
One advantage of Florida State is that you will likely qualify for in-state tuition based on your grades/scores, even though you’re not a resident. Deadline for getting your application materials in is January 18th.
I don’t know what your residency status would be for Georgia. Are you already living in another part of Georgia, or coming from another state?
I’m coming from a military base in Europe.
What is your state home of record?
Would you get instate rates for either state’s schools? Do you qualify for Yellow Ribbon/GI bennies?
I would go with Tech in this case. It is the best and most respected school of the three, and Atlanta is a major city with more opportunities for someone studying international affairs, i.e. The Carter Center.
I had some misinformation and missed the deadline for Tech. My state of residency is TX, so I probably won’t be getting in-state for FSU or UGA. I probably will qualify for benefits though.
May qualify for the OOS Tuition Waiver at FSU
I think you should go to Georgia Tech. Most known out of state.
