Florida state university

I have recently been deferred from Florida state. I think mainly because of my act scores since the writing didn't fit the minimum requirements. After getting deferred I retook it and got all the minimum requirements even higher. I have a 24 on the test and I have a 3.5 UW and 4.0 W gpa. I took some honors and college classes and did pretty well. What do you think my chances are with my new scores???

your stats seem like they’re okay if you had gotten in the first time around, but with defferment it seems that you would be applying for an even more limited number of spots. Your ACT is still a little low as most people who are admitted to FSU have a 26-28ish ACT. Your chances I would say are 50/50.

Since you were deferred, did it say what they were looking for? I would try to keep taking the sat and act to get your scores up. I think that would be your best shot at getting in!

24 on the ACT is still low for FSU. Take it again in February and send your scores in.

As said here, a 24 ACT score is still low for FSU.

It’s also possible that FSU wanted to see a higher level of course rigor in your senior schedule (and how you would do in those classes), and they are waiting to see your mid-year grades.

Do you have to take both SAT and ACT to be considered for admission?

No, only one test is required. Remember though that if you send in test scores, they must include the writing component to be considered.
