I got deferred by FSU and I am guessing that it is my test score that I need to improve (1630 & 23). I know that in the second pool of admissions, it is more competitive so how high should my new test scores be to get a good chance of getting accepted the second time around?

The test score range for the middle 50% of freshmen accepted in 2013 was:

26-30 ACT composite; 1730-1960 SAT total

Good Luck!

Reading through your other posts, I can see exactly why you were deferred. FSU’s test score minimums are a 500 SAT score in all 3 sections, and your writing score was a 480. I don’t know what your ACT score breakdown was, but it is possible that it didn’t meet FSU’s minimums either:

Writing - 21 on the ACT English and ACT E/W or 500 on the SAT writing
Math - 21 on the ACT math or 500 on the SAT math
Reading - 22 on the ACT reading or 500 on the SAT critical reading

My writing score did not meet minimum requires however my ACT subscores did but they still need to be improved

I am also assuming that even though I did keep grades above a C on my transcripts, there has still been a downward trend so they want to see my senior grades. Pasbal, do you think that because I was deferred I will be able to see my decision before March 19 if I send in my semester grades and new test scores that meet their standards?

There’s a chance, yes. Last year there were several people that were deferred that were notified by FSU of whether they were accepted or denied before the March date. Sort of like how a lot of people found out already what their status was, even though tomorrow is the “official” date.
