What are my changes of getting in with a deferral from FSU?

It ultimately depends on your academic profile as it stands.

If you were deferred because of your GPA, then really your big hope would be that this semester’s grades would be stellar- think along the lines of straight As.
If it’s because of your SAT/ACT score, you should immediately register for the next SAT/ACT test and begin to prepare, to increase your score.
If you were deferred and you have Ds on your transcripts, then the odds of you being accepted are actually pretty good if you don’t get another one this semester- and if you have no grades below a B, your chances of being accepted are really high.

SAT 1930 FSUGPA on the SSAR is 3.3. Have passed 5 AP exams. I took the ACT my junior year and got a 22 but since I did well on the SAT I did not think I needed to retake the ACT. They have asked for my senior grades, which are four A’s and two B’s. They also recommended I retake the ACT. I am surprised my SAT is not enough. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Did you have an essay and resume?

Yes.

I think the reason for deferring you is the GPA. A 3.3 is low for an FSU GPA (it’s almost half a point below the middle 50%). That said if you only have As and Bs on your mid-year grades, generally deferral in December becomes an acceptance by March (and usually a few days before the second round of decisions come out for everyone else).

Keep up the grades and I think you’ll get in. The GPA is probably what got you deferred; if you keep improving it you should be fine.

Thanks for your time
