My daughter is a vegetarian and has very healthy eating habits. She has visited New Orleans, and found lots of fried foods and delicious treats, and she is worried that she would have a difficult time finding foods that she wants to eat at Tulane. Any info out there?

Tulane is totally in tune with vegetarian eaters. Here are some pics describing the redone Bruff Commons. Click on each to see the description.
Most to the point though, see page 7 of the following link: <a href=“Tulane Dining Services”>Tulane Dining Services;

Any other questions, I would say call the Dining Services office.

Off campus, I know there are vegetarian oriented restaurants around, but not being vegetarian I am not familiar with them. Perhaps some others can chime in on that.

i’m also a vegetarian (and was actually vegan before coming to tulane). i lived on brown rice, kale, broccoli, miso soup, fresh fruit, oatmeal, etc at home. coming here has been difficult, but i’ve finally scoped everything out and found stuff i will eat.

it is hard to eat healthy here, but it can be done. at bruff, there is always the salad bar and they have some sort of vegetarian soup most days. the fruit is usually pretty fresh and yummy. at the pasta bar, it is easy to have them make you whole wheat pasta with veggies and marinara. the vegetarian line is usually gross, in my opinion, although i’ll hit it up every once in a while.

at the LBC, your daughter could easily eat at einsteins, panda express, quiznos, baha grill, and the greek place.

another nice thing is that at bruff to go they usually have a vegan lunch entree that is generally pretty good.

let me know if you have any other questions!!

she can also go to loyola’s dining hall (compatible with tulane meal plans) where there are more vegetarian options and generally fresher food than bruff

RFeynman - Is that still true now that Tulane has a new food service provider?

Thanks for all the information–it’s encouraging. I know that it will be difficult for her anywhere she goes, but she is hoping to maintain her good eating habits.

fallen- yes its true.Loyola students can still use meal swipes at Bruff and Tulane students can use swipes at the OR.
