For 2100+ people, what books did you use to study?

I have been told Barrons 2400 and the Blue Book is enough, is it? If not what others, should i get? My English is horrible. Any recommendations for English workbooks, both for writing and critical reading? How is the Rocket Review?

Thank you.

If you're looking to get your vocabulary down, I'd recommend 1100 Words ....That book was actually a part of my school curriculum for 9th and 10th grade and it helped, I think, with the SAT sentence completion. Also...read a lot of books that has nice words in them. Harry Potter works.

Books/services I used:

Word Smart
Blue Book
10 real SATs
SAT online Course

What about Grammar smart from the princeton review?

The ultimate vocab list is in Barron's 2400. It's 3,500 words long and if you honestly memorize every word on that list, you should ace every sentence completion question on the real SAT. On the Oct, I think every word on the CR was in that list except for 'halcyon', which luckily I had seen before (and besides, the other answer choices were in the Barron's list, and I could eliminate them, so knowing 'halcyon' was not necessary).

Princeton review and collegeboard

as well as the official online course

This really helped me with my score, I was getting around 2050 before the prep and by the end boosted my score 200 points.

I took a princeton review course which was a waste of time. I don't read at all so i wanted some extra practice for critical reading and writing. are the Barrons extra books good? and im getting like a 1600 right now and i want to end up with atleast 2200. I have 2.5 months for prep left only! HELP!

free practice - look for the Kaplan Quizbank, it's great and free though it has a limited number of questions (about 5000 I think).

The Bluebook is great. I bought PR but never used it.

Bluebook for sure.

I used Barrons 2007 as well.

I only used the official Blue Book and I got a 2180. XD

For vocab, the best way to improve it is with old literature. Read Shakespeare, read The Odyssey, read Paradise Lost, and read anything else you believe might be interesting. Be sure to buy the versions that have the annotations at the side, though. Trust me, this will improve your vocabulary far more than any amount of memorization will.

I used NONE! 2290 and NO CLASSES OR BOOKS. I know this is not helpful advice, I just want to brag.

barron's 2400 has a vocab list?

EDIT: ah, nevermind, I found it. but there's only 12 word lists, I didn't know that there were 3500 words. wow.

i went to a school with very low expectations and i didn't find this website until after i was done with sat's so i had no idea i was even supposed to prepare for it. that was an unheard of thing at my school, so i didn't use any. i managed a 2190 though.

I think Barrons 2400 and the Blue Book is all you need. I got a 2290 with that. I also got a 1570 CR+M, which I focused more on when studying with those books.

Well, I got a 2120 mostly based off my 800 CR (which you seem to need help with)...but the Barron's 2400 Book OWNS. And BB obvi. But really, it made everything else look like crap, and I really owe it to that book. Also, I found the Jerome Shostak Vocabulary Books good too-I do them in school for English class. There were 2-3 answers on sentence completions directly from the unit I was doing (notably halycyon or whatever), so that really helped. I've been a reader my whole life, but a lot of people can do well on CR without that.

other books which are good for an average student who wants a lot of practice?

blue book for practice
find some real tests online/in the counseling office
Sparknotes vocab list
A lotta classic literature

and you're fine

what about rocket review, grammar smart from princeton and Barrons critical reading workbook?

bump...........
