My poor friend is stuck the University of Texas... not enjoying it whatsoever... Too big and feels swallowed up by the school. She is a pre-med major and wants to transfer badly. So I was wondering if you guys could give her some advice on schools to apply to.

college GPA: 3.3
Activities: ballet, hospital internship, and community service

She wants a school that has:
- a good science department
- Between 4,000 - 8,000
- a campus, not spread out like BU or NYU
- friendly to transfers

High Schools STATS
GPA: 3.8
SAT: 1260
Clubs: National Honor Society, Student Council, Culinary, Italian Culture, Key Club, Dance, National Swimming Team, community service during summer,

a 3.3 from texas and a 1260 SAT score i don't know if they are enough for any top tier schools. Perhaps, try Tulane, i heard they give scholarships out to transfers.

she's not really looking for a top tier school... she can take 2nd tier... its just she wants to leave UT

i would love to be stuck at UT, i hate TX, but i wouldnt mind going to the biz school

possibly U Vermont?

i will tell everyone this... esp someone with stats like your friend, you can def. get into U Vermont. I had a 3.3 (although it was from a v. tough private prep school), 1340, no ECs other than campaigning for Kerry rain and shine (yep, on election day we ran around in mens XL ponchos the office gave out driving people to the polls) and I wrote my essay at 4 in the morning about how I was a free spirit and UNIVERSITY OF MICHIGAN was the perfect school for a freewheeling intellectual like me, or something equally ludicrous. I realized I'd written U-Michigan about 3 weeks after I'd sent in my application. I got into UVM about a week after that. Eesh.

uvm is pretty easy to get into and would be rated higher if it had the resources of a larger university, but for its size it is great. They do reject people with really high stats they, dunno why, great skiing, great town, what else is there to say
