i was wondering why this happened:
tonight i was eating marshmellow fluff out of the container with a stainless steel fork (you gotta love it!) anyways, i was also drinking seltzer with it. i noticed that everytime i took a swig of the stuff if fizzed alot in my mouth. so just to see what would happen, i stuck my fork (still covered in marshmellow fluff) into the seltzer. bam! the whol thing started fizzing a ton, like when you add baking soda to vinegar. anyways, once the commotion in the glass dies down, i stuck my fork back in the fluff and tried to make the reaction again but nothing occurred. only when i poured in fresh, untampered seltzer was it possible to recreate the reaction. what happened? an energy release? or did some atoms bond? it was super cool and probably the closest thing i'll ver get to doing serious chemistry research in high school. thanks to all who respond!

I love chem, but I don't know the answer. I'm definetely going to try it though!

This kinda thing also happens with diet coke and white mentos. get a whole roll and a 2 liter bottle, and watch magic happen on your very own lawn!

My friend told me about the mentos thing 2 weeks ago and I am going to try it someday when I have money to buy a pack of mentos.
