For Critical reading........

Does anybody read those books out by Kaplan, and Sparknotes, and etc...
The ones where they take old novels (i.e. Frankenstein, wuthering heights, edgar allen poe, and scarelet letter) or they make their own novels. If so, Do you think they help your vocabulary memorization and critical reading? Also does anybody read "The New Yorker", if so can tell me if that is helpful for critical reading? Also is the atlantic good as well?

bump..................
bump................

I don't know what you mean about "those books"... but both reading books and publications like the New Yorker should help you in critical reading...

I would stay away from those "vocab novels". Yeah I've seen them too. Read something like the New Yorker, Economist, NY Book Reviews, Scientific American, stuff for english class.
