starting a thread on essays - would like to see exactly how many people wrote about a "cliche" topic i.e. - passion for a certain EC or "taboo" topic i.e. - apparently suicide.

what was your essay topic? =D

Pleaaaase! Thanx in advance for any replies!

i had this metaphor about track. when i was in 7th grade i did hurdles for track and at the first meet i fell over all of the hurdles (i mean every single one- it was really embarrassing), but i continued the race. so i compared my overcoming of the hurdles with perseverance to how i approach life (always overcoming hurdles). and then i briefly discussed how i am blind in one eye...

cough hot hasn't added me to facebook cough

And yes Yubi! Because I <3 you. However, it might be more difficult to believe my essay topic for U of Chicago - Frosting. Cake frosting, to be exact. Silly, but it got me their only full ride scholarship.

haha hotpiece!! that's so cool!! is it a different color or one actually can't tell =O what color do you see stuff in!?!?

divaaaaaanny cries I <3 you too!! lol that's totally awesomely cute!!!! cake frosting.. just the thought of it makes you like that person.. connives lol jk, don't wanna "jock" your topic =) but .. no matter what can't resist that cuteness

Divanny, somehow my facebook doesn't work today. every time i try to log in it says "Invalid username/password" and then when i do the "forgot password" function, it doesn't recognize my email address. so i haven't been on facebook all day.

and yubi, no one can tell that I'm blind in my right eye. it looks completely normal. and i see everything in it's correct color.

oooh lol i read it wrong, i thought you were Color blind in one eye. ! hmm i sense an interesting story behind that, unless it was a birth defect? lol either way, coolness ^^

Jock away, I only sent it to Chicago. However, I don't think Harvard would have responded as well as those kooky people in Chicago. Excuses excuses...

yubi, i was born with an intense (but relatively common) muscle weakness in my right eye. i was supposed to wear a patch growing up (to correct the problem), but i always took it off (because of constant teasing from the other kids). so yeah, i guess you could say that it is a birth defect perpetuated by childhood cruelty. i'm completely over it now though. i wear contacts so i can see perfectly fine.

lol ok, from now on i'm going to assume that everyone's essay topics are real =) which is no surprise even though they're all highly awesome and unique! <-- need i say?? lol harvard forever! (hopefully all my school patriotism won't go down the drain ='( )

thank you for all the replies! and it's really given me insight and direction on how i should write =) so thanx again!

I talked about how I used to make fun of this one Mexican kid in elementary school so that I could be cool, then years later, he was my boss at my new job.
