Did you guys skip to the questions first? Or did you guys read the passages first?

I skipped the passages. I’ve taken all three of the famed science subjects: Bio, Chem, and Physics. I’ve got a pretty good background on all of them, so the types of data they give on the test were familiar enough to me. But if you didn’t already know about the data, then yes, I would read the passages. But they might take a while to read.

Skipped the passages on most. On the comparing viewpoints I skimmed the passages and took quick notes to remember what each paragraph is about.

I always skip straight to the questions. It minimizes wasted time and prevents me from getting confused by reading too much into the scientific concepts in the passage.

Took the ACT once, no practice, 35 Composite and 36 Science

I skimmed it very quickly so that I would have some idea what I’m doing. Then if I ran into a question that I had no idea without knowing more, I would spend the time to read some of the stuff.

I have always went the the questions first but for the research summaries (the ones with 6 questions) I always have to read in the passage to find the answers.
What do you guys do for these questions?

I got a 36 science and I read every word of every passage. I didn’t read the questions until after I finished the passage each time. You just have to read fast.

but dont you guys find that your not retaining anything in the passage unless you know what your actually looking for?
I get so lost up in all the scientific terms and then i just lose focus and never know where to look next for the answer

Idk… I think I do better when I read the passage, but most of the time I run out of time with this method.
