I received my acceptance letter today, 3/2/07, and I am still excited about it

These are the stats that got me in, just in case you wanted some reference, because I remember I could never find people's stats who got in and the information abouts honors from the UT website was utter crapz... anyway:

Academics:
rank: 1/460
gpa: 4.0 unweighted
PSAT: 186 <-- laf
SAT: 2150 --> 750M 700V 700W (average for UT honors last year was 1470...the lady Pam who is in charge of honors told me this)
AP: English Language - 4, Biology - 5, Chemistry - 5, BC Calculus - 5, US History, 5

Currently taking, Physics C, Psychology, Statistics, and English Literature

Multivariable Calc in community college course

Non Academic:
UT Southwestern Internship: 320 hrs in summer and still working currently 2 days a week

Key Club President

National Honor Society, Student Council, Robotics Summer mini class (these 3 things were less than 1 hr per week)

Volunteering: Parkland - 172 hrs in summer, and various other volunteer events I have...

Essays: I spent a ****load of time on my regular topic A and B essays, thinking the honors program was gonna read that... but I guess not. Pam says they focus in on the honors essay.. but I spent a crapload of time on that too, so I think my essay was good.

I sent in a rec letter as well. One was from my Chemistry teacher, which I opened and read (blush), and it was a very good one. The other one, I didn't read, but I expect it to have been very mediocre.

Alright, that's all I could think of. Sorry if it sounds like I'm bragging or being a little prick, but I am not trying to be. I just remember searching for people who got into UT Honors Engineering and wondering what it took to get in.. and I could never find that information! So hopefully, more people who got accepted into it can respond to this thread so others can get some kind of idea of their chances.

Oh, but the way, I am a Texas resident... I think that was a HUGE factor in my decision. Out of State people: I think you have a very small chance, but that's just my idea.

Thanks.
