i got rejected from Wharton ED. wharton hasn't took any kids from our school for at least five years that I know of. Every year, there are about 2 to 5 kids applying to wharton form my school. And Wharton always attracts kids with the highest grades and scores of our school to apply, yet all got rejected no matter regular or early.
i'm applying to 11 other schools. I think nyu or babson(may be babson more) will be a good match now.

i really feel the admission stats at wharton websites are unfactual.

anyway, best wish to you guys that are on the deferral list, give a fight

Everyone from my area that I talk to says that NO ONE got into Penn ED. Granted, I live in Suburban Heaven, North Jersey, and colleges are absolutely sick of accepting everyone in my county.

Honestly, for the two weeks before I got my decision, I was a wreck. I lived on these forums. When I got deferred - I actually felt...free, I guess? Like everyone who was asking me what my decision was, I was able to say "I got deferred, but I'm SO thrilled about it, because at least I didn't get rejected." Besides, deferral was like a blessing, really - I'm now able to see that there are a bunch of other colleges that are just as good, if not better, than Penn. Now it'll be possible for me to see where I got accepted and what kind of money, if any, everyone gives me. And at Penn, when they go over my app a second time, they'll take into consideration that I applied there early (I also sent a couple of letters thanking them for their decision and confidence in me, that it was still my first choice, and updated my brag sheet for them), so they know I really want to be there. And you know what? If they don't take me, then it's probably not the right place for me anyway.

Other places:
Cornell
Columbia
Yale
Dartmouth
Georgetown SFS
Tufts
NYU
William and Mary
got into Rutgers before yesterday

Penn sounds like a mean school....I' ll probably be joining you all this spring. Good luck

other kids at my school with better stats got rejected by wharton as well

I think I figure out some rules:

yours SAT I OK
SAT II Low (They want to see 700+ writting 750+ Math IIc and something else 700+)
AP OK
GPA Bit too low
EC (You need to have at least two of followings:
sports, arts(piano, violin, chello, ..), leadership, community service,
debate, award) and consistently long time for your EC ( Say 10ys
Piano or 8 yrs baseball, or 500 hrs community service)
Your essay might reflect your ECs.

while i agree a lot of it may be a formula, you are definitely not going to get into a college merely because you are dedicated to something and have the right scores. (unless you're applying to a public school)

everyone in my school who applied to wharton this year had high sat scores (both I and II), great APs, great GPA, and at least two of your "two of the following"
and everyone was deferred. not to mention, chances are they will not get in RD, so they/we're NOT getting in, even w/ all that stuff

afaforce: i live in virginia.
tokaicarbon: another student at my school has scored 5 on 8 ap subjests, 1490 sat1, 2200sat2, 4.4gpa, got rejected by huntsman program.
no one got into huntsman nor wharton from my school for at least five years

I've applied RD to all my schools, so I haven't been rejected yet. My question: If you are put on a waiting list for a school, can you accept the offer at another school while you wait to see if you've been accepted ?( so that you don't end up without a college to attend). I only ask this because I am guessing that the universities will not know who is enrolling until the acceptance letters return.

i forgot to mention that a good number of kids rejected by wharton from my school are asian including me and the other one got rejected this year. affirmative action stuff can be factor too.
the only student(out of 4 applied ED) got into penn this year is a Hispanic, she has about 1100 or 1200 sat, 3.6 gpa(the only ap taking in high school is AP spanish literature). she's enrolled at Penn's school of arts and science which might be less competitive. another Korean Girl got 5's on four ap subjects, with 1400 sat, 4.0gpa.
all the students at my school have similar EA's since it's a small private school, we don't have free options on our own.

that korean girl got rejected from Penn's school of arts and science for ED, while that Hispanic girl got in.
