For WashU in STL, bussiness school or arts & science?

Hi,
I've sent out my pre-app sheet for WashU a while ago but since im really not sure about my future major yet, im still trying to decide between Olin Bussiness school and College of Arts & Sciences as my first choice of entry. Does either of them hold a better reputation? Will it be hard to transfer between the schools after entrance? Or do u guys have any other suggestions?
THANKSS for any help!

How about majoring in both? Wash U lets you do that.....After you are admitted, you can figure it out....Very easy to do...

True, rodney. However, the application requires you to stipulate between Arts and Sciences and Olin. Both are very highly recommended. I suppose it depends on you. Olin is a superb school and you can always double major once there, for example in a language. If you are admitted to Arts and Sciences, I dont know if you can just elect to be a business major. Call and ask them. They are very helpful in admissions at WashU. On the other hand, getting into Olin may be more difficult than getting into Arts and Sciences, so look up their CDS data online......oops...I remember now, they dont publish that information at WashU. So ask around to counselors in the know.

And it depends on your stats as well. If you have a super CR and a less super Math, that may give you an indication. Or vice versa.

Either way, good luck. Its a great school but very hard to get into and they are sometimes quirky. Very nice people, but they waitlist a LOT of people and last year they hardly took anybody off the waitlist and the year before they took nobody. They pay CLOSE attention to your recommendations and high school transcript, not just your SAT score.

They are lovely people, its just very hard to get in.

Also, it was our perception that kids there are rather frenetic. There is no core requirement and they plunge into their majors right away...so double majoring is the NORM. Triple majoring is also not unheard of. The tour guides all walk backwards and talk really fast....and walk almost as fast.

Kids we spoke to who were premed majors said they liked it there, but they were stressed and it was VERY competitive once you got there.

Just my two cents.

You should post this in the WashU subforum under Colleges and try to get input from current Washu students. It will be more accurate than the impressions of parents, including myself, who visited the place once and don't attend.
