what do you think the stats for the presidential scholarship would be? like what sat/gpa would be considered for presidential?
@nola89, my daughter from Louisiana was admitted as well! My daughter’s stats are a lot like your daughter’s! She applied on a whim b/c of the NMSF offer and the application was free, so I said “go for it.” How exciting!
@candjsdad, my daughter got the National Merit Scholarship with guaranteed housing. She has a 35 on ACT, 1500 on (new) SAT, 4.85 GPA, 1/266 in class, and some other academic distinctions. She is from Louisiana.
When does need-based aid come out for EA applicants? Febuary?
I did just receive confirmation that scholarships are still under review and will not be finalized until February 1. That was in direct response to a question about the National Merit Scholarship.
Congrats to all those who received acceptance letters thus far!!! Well done.
Our daughter got her acceptance, EA, as well. She did not get notified of any merit aid though but we are hoping that will change by Feb 1. She is 13 of 511 for class rank (top 2.5%), 4.41 GPA, and 1390 SAT, and a National Hispanic Honor Scholar. This is her first choice school so fingers crossed!!!
I got in to the Gabelli Business school a few days ago, applied EA with 32 ACT
Accepted into business school a few days back. 4.2 weighted/3.75 unweighted GPA, lots of APs, strong extracurriculars. No honors college no merit based aid.
@canjsdad National Merit Semi finalist is based solely on the process for National Merit overseen by the College Board. It is based on a student’s PSAT scores and semi finalists were told last fall.
My S stats were 2260 Old SAT, 1590 new SAT, 35 ACT, European history subject test and French subject test 800 on each, 97 unweighted overall average with 5 APs going into senior year with a score of 5 on each.
Again, has anyone heard about Rose Hill’s Honors program? Thanks.
@aimster888 I’m afraid you are wrong on that. Yes, you do have to qualify as a National Merit Semifinalist in order to be considered for the scholarship. (By the way, the process is overseen by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation, not the College Board.) But not all Semifinalists will receive the scholarship. Fordham makes that quite clear. I have twins who are both interested in Fordham and who are both Semifinalists, but that doesn’t mean they will get the scholarship. It has already been awarded to some people, but, according to the response I received from admissions, more awards will be made to students who have already been accepted with their full financial aid packages on February 1.
@candjsdad thank you for clearing that up, I did not understand that it wasn’t a certain thing if you had qualified as a national merit semi-finalist. I apologize. Good luck to your twins.
Congrats to your daughter! My D also was accepted EA to Lincoln Center and received notice of National Merit Semifinalist Scholarship.
My daughter was admitted to the class of 2020 and received the Fordham Scholarship. This scholarship is for the selected National Merit Semifinalists and National Hispanic Scholars. Not all receive it. The difference from the president scholarship is around 6-7K$ i.e. the cost of a double dorm room. Either of these two merit scholarship is big $ commitment from Fordham University. See link below on move-in day for the class of 2020. Last paragraph shows the number of each of these two scholarship awarded for the class of 2020.
The decision to go Fordham Rose Hill for my daughter was the actual visit during admitted students day in April. I knew this was the one when I met her in the school bookstore and seen the gleam i her eyes, So, if you haven’t visited plan to visit. Admitted students days are good visits above and beyond the traditional tour.
Hey is there a group me for the accepted students?
Yes, look on Facebook or Instagram, my daughter is part of two of them I think.
Accepted with Semifinalist Scholarship (Full tuition for 4 years). Also received housing offer.
34 ACT
3.73 uwGPA
Hispanic Male
Does anyone know if Global Business Honors Program is only for global business majors or any major within Gabelli???
My daughter was accepted as well and offered the NSMF scholarship. Congratulations!
Do you plan to attend?
My daughter was accepted EA to Rose Hill and we are so excited for her!
GPA 3.6/4.1
SAT 1330/1600
few EC’s but dedicated girl scout and ballet. We are not religious but like the idea of the core and jesuit values.
she wants to be in/very close to NYC. This was a “match” school for her but surprised at how many qualified students were deferred.
she was rejected by Barnard ED two days before her Fordam acceptance so the kid is happy.
Yeah!! Theres a general one just called “Fordham 2021” and one for Rose Hill: https://■■■■■■■■■■■/join_group/27600088/NKjimX
