I’m currently a sophomore resident attending fclc. I initially wanted to major in mathematics but now I would like to major in biology. Is it possible to attend fclc but still major in biology?
Talk with your advisor. The sciences offered are different at each campus. At LC it’s “Natural Science” and at RH it’s the “Biological Science”. Look at what the “Natural Sciences” offer and see if that works for you. Anything with “NSCI” is offered at LC, “BISC” is at RH. Just go to the “MyFordham” home page, click on Class Schedule>Fall 2015 (View Only)>Biological Science and “Natural Science” (hold down the control key to highlight both)>Class Search (on the bottom). It will list all the classes that were offered this semester. Look at the differences and look at the course catalog also. Speak with your advisor and see what you need. Since you are a Soph you need to officially declare a “major” sometime soon and I remember there were a bunch of meetings/seminars to get a feel of the different majors.
But most importantly talk with your advisor. Be honest with him/her. This way they know exactly how you feel about why you may want to change from Math to Bio and they will see about what courses you need to take (you might need to take summer classes to fulfill those dreaded Core requirements) so you can graduate on time.
Good luck!!
