Do they send that out randomly or is there a special reason why I got one ?Does it imcrease my chances of getting in ?

i think they send it to people with high PSAT scores cuz I got one too...

idk whether it would help our chances, but it would probably make the adcoms pay more attention to it... thats just what i think though

Idon't know if it increases chances or not; One of the main reasons I did it was to save 50 bucks. lol

I never took the PSAT and I still got it, but I do live in New York--perhaps that was the reason? I'm applying there since it saves 50 bucks too, quite frankly.

wait, maybe i got it because I went to visit.

idk.

I got one and didn't visit and also didn't take the PSATs

Do you guys know how and when we get the decisions for EA?

haha I got one..funny story actually..and I just ignored it. For nearly a month the dean of admissions kept sending me letters that ended with something to the effect of, "If we're bothering you please let us know..we've sent this e-mail like 10 times" haha. And just before I deleted it (because I had never even heard of the school) I filled out the application and now this school has turned out to be one of my top choices. Who knows if I get in...but I do, I will later call it fate :) haha

i got the your choice app and it said it was because of being national hispanic scholar, so i guess they mail them for various reasons, definitely not just for psat

I just filled out my Your Choice App for Fordham. Does this mean that I don't have to do anything with the Common App to apply to Fordham? What do I do about the Common App essay?

the 'your choice application' is instead of the common app and all that other stuff.

I think it could increase our chances, but not by a lot.

I also got a Your Choice application. I had high PSAT scores and am was a National Achievement Outstanding Scholar...but I had already shown interest in Fordham anyway, so maybe it's a mix of different factors.

i got one, and by no means did i have a high PSAT score.

I go to a NYC public high school and a lot of kids got it. Like everyone with an 88 average and up.

I got one too, and it’s either because I live in NYC, i’ve visited, or I’m legacy. must be different reasons. it keeps saying “limited time offer” does this mean I have to submit the application sooner than the common app?

I got one and my PSAT scores were not high, I don’t live in NY, and I’m not hispanic.

So really, the only reason I would suspect they send it out to people is because they requested to receive information from the college? I know I did that.

I received it, but I filled out one of the postcards at a collegefair.

D received an email today as well regarding the “Your Choice App”. I’m not sure what the criteria is for receiving this. My daughter is an AA from a NYC public highschool, 3.7 gpa but she only received a 1520 on the SAT. Those scores were sent to Fordham already because she had chosen them as one of the schools College Board was to forward scores to back in June when she took the SAT. She will be taking the ACT on September 12th and we have already designated that her scores be sent to Fordham as well so we thought she was being contacted early because of that fact. I also know that when you add certain schools to the Common Application the college is notified of your interest. D received emails from other colleges she added to her common application encouraging her to apply early as well. Who knows, but D is interested in Fordham so we are going to take full advantage of the fee waiver and I would suggest all of you to do the same if your seriously interested in Fordham. Good Luck to everyone! :-)

I got this e-mail today as well and found it extremely surprising!! I don’t think they have any other information about me beside the SAT scores I sent them this June and even those added up to only 1800. How many people do you think got the e-mail? It’s a great thing, definitely adds incentive to apply. I’m not sure I understood all of its rules, though. Can you apply RD with Your Choice or is it just for ED? And isn’t it a worse thing that there’s less questions than in the normal application?

Anyway, all of this got me really pumped up about Fordham!! I’ve done research the whole afternoon. Let’s hope I get some of those scholarships!

S got the e mail application today from Fordham. He had simply requested info from their website a few weeks ago. Forget his PSAT scores but his recent ACT was a 27.

Any particular reason why the your choice app is hosted on ‘fordhamu.org’ instead of fordham.edu ? maybe i’m just paranoid but it threw up a red flag to me.
