One of my twins got this in the mail today. She had inquired about 6 months ago about the business college and has gotten quite a few emails since then she didn’t respond too because they were mainly for open houses. Her sister never wrote and didn’t get one. I doubt it was from scores since they were similar.
My son got one in October when he was doing his EA applications. He got in but didn’t get enough money. It was nice to know though by December 24th. They had both said about a month ago, if they had to pay, they wouldn’t apply; it wasn’t that high on the list. I hope they get more, everything is so expensive. Tufts also sent applications today but not the waiver…

Sean 518 the application is legit, D talked to several students who have used it in the past, and as soon as you submit the application you receive a confirmation email from Fordham and are able to download the Fordham counselor recommendation form and save a copy of the application. Go for it if your interested in Fordham.

I noticed several people had their SAT and/or ACT scores sent to Fordham in June as well, I wonder if this could be the commonality?

I got one too, and my test scores were also sent in June, maybe that’s it. I did not attend high school in NY though, as a lot of other people have mentioned.

My daughters didn’t send scores to anyone and only one wrote to them (and she’s the one who got the email) I’m sure it varies but it seems like just contacting them generates a free appl. My son wrote them 4 years ago and we visited and he got one. We didn’t visit this time though.

I also got the application. I think it’s because I visited Fordham’s Lincoln Center campus in the spring. I’m very happy I got the app, because the fee is waived! Yay!

I also got one and my psat scores weren’t that great and I didn’t send my SAT scores to schools just in case I decided to take it again… maybe its becuase i was gonna visit the lincoln center campus but had to cancel idk… but do u guys thinks its a good idea for me to fill it out and send it off… I would love to go to Fordham but i’m still not sure if i’m gonna retake the SAT’s yet and if i do and get a higher score i would kick myself for sending Fordham the lower scores… so what do u guys suggest I do

You don’t have to send your scores now. Wait until their Nov. 1st deadline (i think that is it) and see then. They don’t expect everything to be in now. They will let you know the end of December. I think for my son, they said, Dec 24 and that’s when it came. He took it again in Oct. and sent them after that.

I got the your choice application email as well. I was wondering if anyone knew do we have to immediately have to send our sat scores or do we just have to send them by the early action deadline??

If you look at the page for the SAT/ACT, it has score dates and “will take” score dates. You can put old ones in or just put “will take” and the date and send them in or give them your old scores, and say you will re-take. They give you their number to send the scores.

Be careful about trying to conceal SAT scores, most highschools list your scores on the official transcripts that go to the colleges, I have seen posts from other students who were unaware of that fact until the transcripts were sent to the colleges and the admission counselor inquired why the scores were omitted from the application. I would send all the scores, remember your SAT is not all the admission counselors are looking at they are paying very close attention to your GRADES and the type of courses you took. An excellent GPA will always make up for a weak SAT because the SAT is based on analytical ability and not everyone is analytical which they know. Most admission counselors I have spoken to have seen more people with 4.0 gpas do just so-so on the SAT then they can count. They also encourage the ACT test for those students who fall in the high gpa low SAT catergory, these students tend to score much higher on the ACT. Good Luck everyone!!

And if they do, students have the right to get those scores removed. They are under the control of the student, not the high school.

Generally scores are automatically attached to transcript, but you have the right to have them removed/not sent, but you have to be proactive about that. Make a request and the transcript is flagged to not send the scores. They are the students scores, but schools tend to incliude everything so the student has to be sure they don’t include them.

Often its a form you need to request.

That is true zoosermom if the student is aware of the fact that his/her highschool practices sending SAT scores on their transcripts to the colleges but I find many students are not aware of that practice which is why I thought it was important to post about concealment but I personally still feel you shouldn’t conceal anything about yourself, why risk the chance your highschool guidance office making a mistake with the hundreds of applications and request materials they have to send out and your scores going out anyway despite your request, same with the college board reporting, mistakes do happen, how bad will that look to an admissions officer?

hey i was about to fill out the your choice app. when i realized i’m majoring in theatre which requires an audition… and since they give you a decision in december and the auditions are not till january what do i do about that…maybe they will let me know i got into the school and then they let me know whether or not i got into the theatre department later idk. but what do u guys think

Dramamama2010, if you are applying as a theatre major, you cannot apply Early Action because of the audition component of the application. You must send in your application by the January 15th deadline and then have the audition in late January or early February.

While if you don’t get accepted into the theatre program, you still have a chance of getting into Fordham as a non-theatre major, we do not allow prospective freshman to apply first to the school and then to the theatre department.

Thanks for the response

So do i have to send in my SAT scores right away or can i wait till i get my scores from the oct SAT, because my GPA is 3.9 but my SAT scores are just average?

^ i believe that you should submit your current scores and just inform them you plan to take the sat again.

Being my first application i’m going through and filling out the your choice app and it seems extremely short, am i missing something or is this normal ? also must teacher rec’s be mailed in / is there a fordham form for teacher recs?

I am filling out the Your Choice application now. My questions are:

1.) Would it be okay if I print out the application and mail it in with my essay attached?

2.) Is there a word limit for the essay?

Thanks in advance!

If you express interest in Fordham or you allow colleges to contact you based on your ACT or SAT scores, they may give you the waiver. I showed no interest in Fordham but I made a 32 on my ACT which I assume is what led them to give me the waiver.

Good luck!
