im a second year and im considering a major in foreign affairs; however, im not really sure how reputable it looks to employers and even the possibilities of career options after graduation? i know that a lot of these majors go to law school and such; im just wondering if anyone who is doing it or knows anyone else who has done it, has any input on other types of things they do after graduation?

It sort of depends on what you want to do. Are you trying to work in D.C.? I think an FA major alone, though, won't have the same kinds of opportunities as one of the distinguished or honors majors. I can't remember all of them, but the politics department does offer some programs you have to apply for, like Political and Social Thought and Politics, Philosophy, and Law. You could try looking through them and seeing if there's on you might be interested in, and definitely look into trying to get into the Politics Honors program at the very least if you're just doing FA. You could probably do a few things on Capitol Hill or at the State Department with a plain politics major, but your opportunities will be limited and you probably will end up not liking your job and not having the connections you need to advance. You should try to pair that up with something else, like one of those special programs, a language (Arabic, etc.), another major, or consider going to law/med/something school.
