Just wondering, if I too 2 years of Japanese in High School, would I still have to take 3 semesters of foreign language in college? I'm planning on transferring in Fall 2013.

Thanks!

yes you will. i took three years of spanish in high school and it did not count towards usc. when you get accepted, you will take a foreign language placement exam that will determine what level of foreign language you will start in.

Let me add that you only need to be proficient through level 3 in a foreign language. That means if you test out (pass the exam through level 3), you will not have any FL to take at USC. If you pass level 2 in Japanese, for example, you will only have to do one semester (Level 3) to complete your language requirement.

My son had two years of Japanese in high school and placed into Level 3 at USC. He just finished his first semester but has not taken his Japanese class yet.
