I was accepted to the McIntire school of Commerce and I want to enroll there.

I took 3 years of Spanish in high school, but none in college. From what I hear, the commerce school requires two years of college-level foreign language for entry. Obviously this poses a problem for me as you can't cram 4 semesters of foreign language into one summer. Some of the admissions people told me I needed to complete everything this summer; otherwise I wouldn't be able to come to UVA. They also mentioned a placement exam.

Does anyone have any additional information about the requirements? Is anyone else in the same boat as me?

You probably have two options:

First, you could enroll in the UVA Summer Language Institute ( http://www.virginia.edu/summer/SLI/ ), during which you would complete 12 credits (4 semesters) of a foreign language. Languages offered are french, spanish, german, italian, latin, russian, spanish and tibetan.

Second, it might be possible to take the language courses during your two years in McIntire. Contact them about that. They clearly wouldn't have accepted you if it would be impossible for you to enroll.

Jesus. Cav I'm so ****ing happy. Thank-you.

No problem. So are you going to come here, then?

Yes, it appears that way.

Go for it Lasker. Take the placement test when you get here and see where that lands you.

Cav makes a good point. They wouldn't have accepted you if they thought you couldn't complete the requirements in a reasonable amount of time.

Good luck!!!
