When I got rejected from UCI,UCSD,AND UCLA, i realized that I forgot to put my ELC number on my application! I know it might not have any effect on UCLA or maybe UCSD but getting a rejection from UCI was heartbreaking knowing that they accept a high number/% of ELC students. I also felt really qualified for UCI and thought I would at least get into it out of all 4 UC's. I feel so dumb right now because maybe It would've have made a difference. Now i feel really hopeless about hearing from Berkeley. -.-
I will appeal to UCI but i want to know if my appeal reason that I forgot to put ELC on my application would make any difference.
I also forgot to mention when i had pneumonia and swine flu during my sophomore year when my grades look down (was sick for about 2 weeks, missed alot of work, was catching up on ALOT- tests,hw,projects, marching band drill-). my mom was scared of something else happening so i got restricted from doing some activities.

Honestly, it won’t really matter that you didn’t specifically mention that you’re ELC. I think the UCs receive the names of the top 9% of all the eligible high schools in the state, so they know who’s ELC and who’s not without having to see it on your application. That’s what happens with my school, at least.

You cant input your elc, the UC’s receive the size of your class and your ranking straight from your school and then they notify you whether or not you were elc. They do this for all schools and all students.

Oh and for your appeal, I personally don’t recommend you go that route. I think it will seem like your last resort is to make excuses, (might seem harsh, but the admissions officers will probably look at it that way, everybody gets sick and especially if you are going to appeal) talk more about what the school has to offer and how it is right for you and talk about the addition you will make to the student body. I know it sucks, I got waitlisted at SD am now thinking about what to write too.

If i were you i would specify all facts including elc and reasons for low grades and my choice of major. I think your appeal will be successful if it is genuine and u r sincere.
