Forgot to take English 101, how much will it hurt me?

Hey guys,

so I've been looking over my completed UC applications and while I thought everything was good to go, I learned that that isn't the case. I was relying on an AP English test to cover the English 101 requirement, but UCLA (my choice school) doesn't give credit for a score of 3. This means that I have to take English 101 in the Spring before transferring.

I'm an English major by the way with all other prereqs completed (102, 103, 205, 206, etc). How much will taking 101 in the Spring hurt my application? I feel like I'm kind of screwed now. I'm sure this will probably confuse the admission reps when looking over my application.

Won’t matter. They will look at your previous english courses to get a sense of how well you will do in 101.

I was hoping this would be the case, but I’ve heard that not having your prereqs completed by application time will hurt your chances. Thank you!

As long as you have every pre-req done by the end of your spring semester, you are good.

Well…you need English 101 to complete your written composition requirement. However, I’m sure as long as you take it in the spring this won’t affect you because you have taken other English courses.

UC guy: “So you forgot to take English? What’s your major, electrical engineering? Hahaha”
OP: “English”
UC guy: “…k den”
